The staff is extremely friendly and attentive, the cafe is cozy with just 10 stools, and the food is delicious!
Tony K, who has gone through every possible website to rate my cafe (but really just myself), was a man who was homeless that I allowed to sit at my 10 stool cafe for hours at a time to stay warm and use his computer. Unfortunately, the story he tells is greatly twisted - I hope despite what he says you will come in and try us out for yourselves.
Lacy's Kitchen Cafe... Not worth dealing with the new owner.
Be prepared to be verbally assaulted by Lacy, or listen to her berate her employees.
I was a regular (daily)customer since Lacy took over several months ago. Although there are several cafes nearby, because she was a struggling business owner, I brought friends in with me for meals, and regularly recommended her new cafe to friends.
Over time, Lacy's attitude began to sour towards her employees. She regularly gossiped, and spoke ill of many of her customer behind their back.
She would regularly speak of the shortcomings of her employees, and speak of who she would fire next. Several times she would go back and scream at the cook, then come out from the kitchen like all was normal.
Eventually, she began to lose her temper at me. She would yell for small things like letting her know that I was ready to order, or requesting creamer for my coffee. her employees would come over and apologize for the way she spoke as though they were afraid she would hear them. It became bad enough that I would attempt to only come in when she was not working.
One day I came in and sat at the crowded counter, and another customer was annoyed that I had sat next to him. He demanded that I move. When I refused, and he began to kick me under the counter. I asked him at least 4 times to stop. His response was to push me into the wall and kick me harder. Lacy, the owner, stood directly in front of us, saw everything, and did nothing to intervene. She in fact yelled that I should not have sat where I did, and loudly berated me in front of the entire cafe.
I left that day without eating my breakfast.
More than once I calmly attempted to rectify the increasingly problematic attitude she was showing toward me.
Far from being concerned that I was an unhappy customer, she simply yelled at me that I was 86ed and hung up on me.
I am 55 years old. I have never been 86ed from, nor have I caused any problem nor disturbance in any restaurant or bar in my entire life. I am gregarious and friendly. I would have been happy to talk to Lacy about this, had she seen fit to listen to me at all. That was not something she found the ability to do.
Looking for a good friendly place to eat? My recommendation is that you look elsewhere.
