I got a Planet Fitness membership in April. I signed a contract stating the monthly fee would be $19.99 per month. Shortly after signing the contract, I found out I was pregnant and was having medical problems so my doctor put me on bed rest. The gym would not allow me to cancel my membership when I tried to and stated that I had to pay a $60 fee to cancel. I felt this was very unfair. To make matters worse, I went to sign onto my bank account and saw that my card was overcharged. I thought this was odd because I'm very responsible with my bills and had enough money in my account to cover all my expenses. I noticed that Planet Fitness had been charging my card $34.99 per month every single month since I started my membership. I called them on the phone to ask what happened. They said that they couldn't find my account so they charged it a late fee. How can they charge a late fee to the same exact bank account they cannot find? This doesn't make any sense to me. So I asked to speak to a manager. I was told that the manager would be in on Saturday morning from 9am-12pm. However, when I showed up during this time, a worker named Johnny told me that Leslie, the manager, had changed her hours last minute and would not be in until 1pm. They have not resolved my issue and I am writing this review to warn others about what is going on so it does not happen to them.
It's ok. Price is low and that good but not that much to do besides basics. Joined for a year and used it 2-3x/ week.
It's a 3 star gym...Good on a pinch but I prefer other locations. Lots of parking and not too packed.
Mike Welch got me signed up quick and easy without any hassle. He answered all my questions and is very encouraging. Good gym, has everything you need. The trainers are very nice as well.Fun group of people!

Be VERY careful when signing up for a healthclub membership. Fit U uses dishonesty to lure consumers into contracts where they do NOT disclose all the details of the contract. They advertise NO contracts, No committments but this is not entirely true. They have hidden fees they did not disclose. Insist that they give you a copy of the contract before signing up. The customer services is poor.
I recently got a gym membership at InShape Health Club on March Ln in Stockton. The guy who signed me up said that they had a kid's club for my daughter and I could sit in there with her and that the ladies working there were great with the kids.I signed up myself and my two-year-old for 3 years. The first time I went to the gym, I dropped my daughter off in the kid's area and worked out for 30 minutes. When I went in to pick up my daughter, the lady working there had my daughter by her wrist and was yanking her out of the play area forcefully. She did not realize I was there. Once she saw me, she instantly changed her demeanor and let go of my kid's wrist. This instantly raised a red flag for me. I was very upset. I wanted to think about how I was going to handle the situation so I went home with my daughter. I decided not to bring my daughter there again. I kept paying the monthly fee and did not continue to go to the gym.My trainer from the gym called about 2 weeks later to see how I was doing. I explained to him what had happened and he apologized for the bad experience and asked what the lady's name was. I did not know her name so I gave him her description and what time and day my daughter was in the kid's club.A month later, I felt that I wanted to start going to the gym again and decided I would just sit in with my daughter to make sure she was safe and to get some piece of mind after our bad experience. The same lady who yanked my daughter by her wrist was working there. I was a little confused but decided that I would just sit in the kid's club with my daughter since we were there. The lady told me I was not allowed to stay in there with my daughter and that I would have to go sit in the lobby or go work out. I asked to speak with her supervisor and explained that when I had joined, I was told that I was allowed to sit in with my daughter. The supervisor told me that it's pointless for me to sit in with my daughter and parents are only allowed to drop their kids off. She did nothing to make me feel more comfortable and I did not feel okay leaving my daughter there after our previous experience so we left back home.I am stuck with a 3 year contract and will not be bringing my daughter back. If you have children, consider their safety.
