Happy so far

My 5-yr-old has made tremendous strides in the last few weeks. Her instructor pushes her hard and it's exactly what she's needed.

No complaints at all with this place.

Not Recommended

I am not typically one to write reviews good or bad, but our experience was bad enough that my husband insisted.

Midwest Aquatics is an incredibly poorly ran establishment. Not only dirty, but terrible customer service. The man at the front desk has horrendous manners when it comes to dealing with customers. But most importantly, the kids...

My kiddo made almost ZERO progress in one years time. I came to realize that this was because in a 30 minutes session, that usually started late, always ended 5 minutes early, and had too many kids in the class, my child literally got an average of 3-5 minutes of actual instruction. The rest of the time she was sitting at waiting her turn. So when they would end lessons early, you can see how the progress was not happening.

Even worse, when I kindly voiced my concerns to the man at the front desk, he was extremely rude and told me ""we have 700 students here, if your child isn't making progress after a year, that's a problem she has, not us"". I was elated and never went back. Not to mention after a year, they never bothered to learn my name, and they called my child by the wrong name multiple times. Overall TERRIBLE experience. Don't waste your time and money. BV Rec has a wonderful program.

A big disappointment - UPDATED

After 6 months, I finally decided to cancel my 3-year old daughter's swim classes at Midwest Aquatics. I signed her up with hopes that she would learn how to swim in a fair and nice environment. Unfortunately, to my disappointment, my daughter hasn't learned too much and her swim teacher is not fair when dealing with her students. My daughter was the least knowledgeable at swimming and because of that she kept being shortchanged during class. I counted how many times she actually was called by the instructor to enter the water and it was, in average, 3 times per class, each being about 1.5 minutes long. That's 4.5 minutes for each 30 minutes class. Also, while the other students who knew how to swim would be with the instructor about 9 to 10 times per class, mu daughter was constantly being skipped. In addition, when the students were making noises or not seating still, they would be called on by the instructor, but my daughter would be kicked out of the class, skipped another swimming round or made sit with me... the other students received a much more lenient punishment for the same or sometimes even worse misbehavior. It's sad when even other parents comment that my daughter was being shortchanged because the instructor doesn't seem to have patience to deal with a student who is new to swimming. Again, I had high hopes and was very sad to see that her class lacked fairness.

FINAL UPDATE: after I posted this review online, one of the owners offered me to move my daughter to another class so I see if another instructors was any better. I guess it took a posted review for Midwest Aquatics to listen to a parent. They should listen to ALL parents who absolutely hate this place. I should note that the owner was very unhappy that I posted anything that wasn't flattering to the school... she wasn't unhappy that her school was not really teaching kids how to swim... she was unhappy that I described my experience with the school.

UPDATE: Don't even waste our time trying to work things out with the owners, give feedback, try another class or even exert a little more patience. In the end, you will notice is worthless, your child will still seat by the pool and spend only 2 minutes per class in the water without learning anything while you pay for the monthly fees. And if it was not enough, when you cancel the contract, Darin, the owner, will send you an e-mail saying that your child isn't allowed to go to classes even though, as per the school requirement, you have paid for an entire month of classes pst your cancellation notice at the time of initial registration. talk about RIPPING YOU OFF!!! When the owner is completely clueless about his own business, you know it's a place you should stay away from it.
