Houck Home Care and Cleaning

WARNING: Do not work nor seek services from this company. First, the owner Patty Houck is a crook and thief. She pays her aides only $8.25 an hour (Comfort Keepers pay their aides $10.25 an hour, Home Instead pay their aides $9 an hour). Obviously she takes advantage of her employees by under paying them and over charging the clients'. Secondly, the owner has a history of failing and refusing to pay some of her former workers. In one incident, one former worker attempted to collect her pay but Patty gave her the run around. Eventually she managed to collect her pay only to discover the check bounced. I spoke with one of her former client's and she had a lot of distrust and dissatisfaction with Houck. She described her experience with the company as a 'Nightmare'. She claims many times aides failed to show up, and the company was billing her for services that were never rendered. This former client knows the owner very well and believe me most of those high fees she charges goes into her own pocket and supporting her husband's habits. She knowingly and happily under pays her aides because she's greedy and immoral. How do I know all this? I was one of Patty's victims. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Despite the poor reputation of the owner, a lot of those aides are good workers and deserve to work with a reputed company that believes paying their hard working employees with decent pay. If you work with Houck, you are guaranteed to go on public assistance just to get by.
