These people are terrible. Never lease from them. They will do everything they can to screw you over and get money out of you.

I lived in Lexington House and every other week the water was conveniently shut off from 8am-5pm and they would not let us know until a few hours before the shut off or right after the water was shut off. Further, the laundry machines barely worked and would conveniently charge double. Sometimes, they "forget" to email or blame it on you for not receiving the email. They also "forget" to tell you they are showing your apartment to potential tenants leaving you in your pajamas brushing your teeth as strangers walk into your apartment. If you are renting a two-bedroom apartment, no air or air conditioning will reach the far bedroom and it will conveniently be the size of a closet- "meant for a bunk bed" like kids. The office is not open on the weekends so if anything happens past 2:30pm on a Friday, they will not help you until Monday afternoon the earliest. So if you enjoy looking at vomit on a Tuesday morning that's been there since Friday night, lease with The Apartment Store!
Staff does not communicate with each other. Things "slip through the cracks" literally and metaphorically with this company. Please don't make the same mistake we did.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX! I have lived in this place from 2008 to 2014 and I will not give them anymore of my money after this year. Since I have lived in the complex, I have been infuriated on more than 20 different occasions with the maintenance staff and office staff because of their blind disregard to the well being of their tenants. They do not care for you, nor do they care if your apartment is clean and up to code or not. When I first moved into the apartment I am in now, nothing was cleaned, nothing was fixed, and nothing worked. The maintenance worksheet you have to fill out when you first move in to give back to them, so they fix whatever is broken or wrong with the apartment, was filled from top to the very bottom. There were so many repairs and clean up jobs that I had to put on this worksheet that I ran out of room. The bathroom was disgusting and the carpet needed to be replaced because of all of the oil stains left behind. Not only that, the dishwasher still had dirty dishes in it and it was broken. This list can go on and on....After this, countless horrible interactions with the maintenance staff and office staff continued. Our kitchen cabinets needed to be replaced due to them rusting and deteriorating(Yes, they still use metal cabinets... These types of cabinets haven't been used since the 70s. Think about that.) Southgate thought it was ridiculous that I wanted my cabinets replaced even though rust particles were getting in my cups, bowls, and dishes. They told their maintenance staff just to paint over the rust. Not only did they do a horrible job at this, and got paint all over our appliances, they used green fence paint(which is only for outdoor use) and the fumes of this paint irradiated throughout our apartment. I literally had to threaten them that I would get the health department involved if they did not fix this. They finally, after 2 weeks, replaced my cabinets. Here's the kicker... On 12/19/2014, my garbage disposal broke(for the 4th time of them fixing it and not actually fixing the problem) and unsanitary water and disposal food waste flooded my kitchen sink. I called maintenance to get this taken care of. What came next was VERY upsetting(which lead me to writing this review)... They took 2 days to fix this. I was left without a sink for this long. When I got home on the second day, I came home to an absolute mess. The maintenance staff drug in dirt from outside(they always do and leave you to clean up their mess) and THEY USED MY POTS AND PANS FOR TOOLS!(Pictures are attached to show all of this) On top of all of this, they left a mess in my sink and left unsanitary water all over my counter tops and kitchen floor. I wrote them an email telling them of how furious I was about this, and their manager called me and LITERALLY cussed me out over the phone because of how mad he was that I requested them to clean up their mess and answer for what they did to MY property... Absolutely absurd. To end this whole review, I will sum up my experience with this horrible apartment complex... You are not only moving into a health hazard when choosing this apartment complex to live in, but you are signing over your money to a company that will never try to satisfy your needs in any way nor do they care if you're comfortable where you live. They will damage your property when they come in to fix anything, and they will leave things unsanitary for you because all they care about is the money you are putting into their pockets. Please trust me on this, save your health, time, and money on another apartment complex that will actually treat you like a human being and not like a piece of dirt that gives them money every month. P.S.I've only lived here this long because it is really hard to find an apartment complex in the area that takes pets. Trust me on this, I am done with this place. Don't waste your money. You will thank me.
horrible customer service, most unfriendly staff i have ever encountered. security guards are overly aggressive and even threatening at times if you play your music, tv too loud etc. definitely DO NOT recommend living here. other than that their apartments are in a great location :)
THE APARTMENT STORE SUCKS. ---- the apartments are good, location is cool, places are pretty clean, but the STAFF ARE HORRIBLE....My roommates and I got screwed by the apartment store so bad. READ THE LEASE COMPLETELY BEFORE YOU SIGN. DO NOT LET ANYONE HAND BACK A KEY OR SIGN ANY PAPERS FROM THEM UNTIL EVERYONE READS THEM. -- If even one person turns in their key at the end of the semester, they hand over the apartment and "The Apartment Store" will REMOVE ALL ITEMS IN THE APARTMENT. (We lost all our kitchen supplies, blankets, etc. that we left in over the summer because oneeee roommate turned in a key).WATCH FOR SECRET MAINTENANCE CHARGES. We got charged for 3 lock changes. 2 that never occurred. (once maintenance came up and jiggled the lock around and got it to work, but we still got charged for an entire lock change and key replacement. we argued with them for hours before they removed the charge.)I know they have great apartments to rent downtown in good locations. But be veryyyyyy cautious when you rent from them. Do not expect your deposit back and be super careful about anything you sign.
SCAM ARTISTS! Don't sign anything and don't give them a deposit. The office agents had a clearly rehearsed routine. They are swindlers.
The Apartment Store just recently took over my Apartment Complex in Bloomsburg PA and ever since they did it has been life changing. The people in the office are so welcoming ans will help you out with anythinf you need. They have also created a sense of community in our apartment complex (which was nonexistant before) through events and activities they planned through out this semester.
They will not return your security deposit! (This is the least of the problems they create, btw) My apartment was impeccable, and they pointed out cracks and marks that were there since I moved in and I did not point out originally because I thought they were too fine. They are horrible people and rude. I just wish I had taken any other apartment people. They will never give you a decent service. They will charge enormous amount for any repairs. They will cheat you however possible. Once you tell them that you will not be staying the next year, they will shamelessly put you on display. DO NOT take Apartment Crap, I mean Store.
