Attorney Maryam Afif is the attorney in our firm who represents individuals in divorce and family matters. Attorney Afif is an experienced family law attorney regularly representing individuals in Connecticut Superior Court in divorce, child support, alimony, custody and visitation issues. Ms. Afif graduated cum laude from Pace University School of Law. While at Pace, Ms. Afif served as the Editor in Chief of Pace Law Review, was on the Dean’s List, and received the ALI-ABA Scholarship and Leadership Award. Ms. Afif also published the comment “Prescription Ethics: Can States Protect Pharmacists Who Refuse to Dispense Contraceptive Prescriptions.” Prior to joining the Law Offices of Seth J. Arnowitz, LLC, Ms. Afif clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Ms. Afif holds a bachelor of arts in design and communication from The American University and a master of arts in liberal studies from Manhattanville College. Ms. Afif is a member of the Connecticut and New York State Bars and practices primary in the areas of family law and litigation including divorce, matrimonial, custody, visitation, child support and civil union issues. Ms. Afif resides in Stamford, Connecticut with her husband.

Mr. Arnowitz graduated from New York University in 1986. He received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1989, where he was a Notes & Comments Editor of The Hofstra Law Review. Following graduation, Mr. Arnowitz joined the law firm of Cummings & Lockwood as an associate where he represented individuals and corporations in complex litigation matters. From 1994 through 1998, Mr. Arnowitz was the senior associate at the Law Offices of Frank N. Peluso, P.C., where he managed the firm’s real estate and litigation departments. In 1998, Mr. Arnowitz formed the Law Offices of Seth J. Arnowitz, LLC, where he continues to represent individuals and small companies in real estate, foreclosure and litigation matters. Mr. Arnowitz is the author of “Expert Evidence in Connecticut State Courts”, American Bar Association Scientific Evidence Review Monogram No. 4 (1999) and “Denying a Natural Parent Visitation Rights”, 20 Family Law Review 2 (June 1988). Mr. Arnowitz is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut, State of New York, United States District Court for the District of Connecticut and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is also affiliated with the Connecticut Bar Association and the Fairfield County Regional Bar Association. Mr. Arnowitz was born in Brooklyn, New York and now resides in Wilton, Connecticut with his wife and three children.
