Some of the units leak, from the roof. I know some one this happened to and everything they owned was ruined in one of the units, so most of their clothing and etc. was ruined.And when they used a trash bin there to throw out anything not salvageable, they got evicted. So yes, in my opinion bad service and facility
I just had the strangest experience at the Kansas exp location. From the second I walked in the door they did not want me to rent a unit. I'm a 53 yr old disabled vet, still working with a good income. I was very polite, they just didnt want my money and had an excuse for everything why they weren't going to take it. Even though my home was less than a mile away they didn't like the fact that I was storing stuff because I was going to be out of town for a while. Then they said I couldn't store over $5000 worth of stuff. Just seemed strange.
My classic 1968 Chevelle was stolen from this place in 2009 and when I called to check on my car the owner told me he thought I had already picked it up.... never told me it had been stolen a month before!!! Of course the police told me while I filed my police report that there had been a few other break ins in the prior months and my car was stolen just the weekend before they were going to upgrade the gate and more lights and cameras!!!
I was employed by Eastway Storage from Nov. 2012 until March 2013. I quit because I disagreed with the owners business practices, in my opinion I found the immoral and deceptive. When I quit I wrote a lengthy letter airing my grievances. Now Tax time is here and they (the owner) is refusing to give me my W-2 form, which is already late by federal guidelines. Elite Storage in Nixa is owned by this person, who also has a commercial realty company in Nixa. I am filing an official complaint with the IRS tomorrow. I would advise anyone interested in storage to avoid these facilities until they are sold to a different owner.
Not on my life would I store here again. First off the rates continued to increase after I put my stuff in storage, which really sucked, and then in moving out, while I called several times before and after moving out, and received several assurances I would not be charged for April, as long as I was out before April 1, it was only after I was already charged that they began to talk about the 30 day notice they needed. Basically all to steal 1 month's more rent.
The place looks nice on the surface..BUT....let me stress this...BUT. The owner of the facility practices constant bait and switch. I had storage there twice, mostly because it was close to my business I own, and my home in Cooper Estates. I was originally given a great price to move in....4 months later I received a rate increase letter of $15 a month, 4 months later I received another rate increase later of $15. I then found out a month later that he was renting the same size units to other people for much less. My brother also had a unit there with the same exact sequence of raised rates. I met the owner one day while there....very phony, praising God.....the guy seemed high and bipolar to me....Stay clear of East Way, try one of the less attractive places, at least the prices will be consistent. I will say this about East way though, there was a nice young man working there when I left, and the lady was nice too.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT RENT A STORAGE UNIT FROM THIS PLACE! Had my stuff in a unit for less than 24 hours and it got broken into...had a $20 disc lock on my unit that I was told was very hard to break into too. Over $10,000 worth of stuff gone. When I rented, the manager told me units had been broken into before, but nothing ever taken. The thieves didn't leave one thing in the unit. This is on a dark scary road, that doesnt get alot of traffic. The office is never open and the place is a mess. Don't let the price fool you, I rented from here because it was the cheapest unit I found in Springfield. They do have video surveillance which led them to catch the guy that stole my items, but I haven't gotten the items back. I have now been waiting for a refund on my unit (I paid 6 months full) and the management has told me twice now they have done it, but no money has appeared back in my account. Very unprofessional. I will not recommend this place to anyone.
