This place is AMAZING! I absolutely loved the atmosphere. You won't find any screaming kids here. If you go here, I'd recommend you dress up--more than just jeans and a nice shirt. More like dress pants (not khaki's) and a dress shirt. I didn't see anyone here wearing anything less than suits and dresses. The lighting was dim. I liked how this restaurant was set-up. Plenty of space per table. Not all crammed in together. Upon arriving to your table, your waitress brings you these awesome chocolate chip peanut butter muffins and some other kind of muffin. (I was too busy focusing in on the chocolate chip peanut butter muffins so I didn't pay any attention to the other one.) We both had steak. I had a baked potato, then sliced up and fried with onions and some kind of sauce that was delicious. He had a baked potato. They wheeled this cart that had sour cream, butter, bacon, cheese and whatever else you may want on it. (We thought that was the coolest!) I had a medium rare steak and I normally will only eat very well done steak, but that was the juiciest steak I have ever had. I loved the music playing as well. I look forward to going here again.
My husband and I go to Applebee's all the time because of the 2-for-20 deal, which is too good to beat. We have only been to this location once, but the experience was exceptional. Our waiter Craig was incredibly polite and made sure that everything we needed was taken care of. When we had concerns about the kid's cups spilling (our son is only 2 and not so skilled with a straw yet), he assured us it took a lot to spill them, and he was right. He also made sure to tell us that Monday's were Kid's Night and that our son would eat free off the kids menu when we said he was just going to share off our plate. We asked for well-done burgers, which they were pefect -- no pink at all, and almost crispy like you would find at a hole-in-the-wall diner. He brought us drinks before we knew we needed them, and always stopped to make sure we were okay or to play with our son as he was passing through our area. I would like to commend him as an EXCELLENT waiter, and really praise the S Glenstone Applebee's as a great family dining establishment. I would go back every night if I could!
discovered this place 6 mts ago or so . It's a nice little place, with good food, good prices and authentic cooking. have used the coupons on the back of price cutter market reciepts for buy one get one with the purchase of 2 drinks and that just cant be beat. love the chorizo chicken dish , the shrimp dinamita (hot ,Hot) , the steak dish that is breaded, then grilled. well I don't think I have disliked any thing. the plates are large portioned. the meat is allmost allways perfectly juicy and seasoned even though it has been pounded thin. the lady and her husband and inlaws? who run this are down to earth people who stop by to talk once in a while , the waitresses are nice and attentive, I like to practice my spanish for fun while I'm there. they have drinks, but I havent yet tried the margaritas. hummmm. I'm feeling thirsty. whens lunch ?
I got the beef plate with fries and baked beans after I found out they wouldn't honor the fine print on certificates from KADI radio. I had three $5 certificates with the print can use 3 at one time which were expiring today. I was told it was a misprint and I could only use 2. So I ordered 2 lunch specials. I was told it can't be used on any specials. Finally, I ordered what I wrote above which came to 13 dollars and some change. I noticed the prices went up about 25% since a few months ago because I had their take out menu. Meat was very tender breaking apart in small cube sizes. Fries were very good, and the canned Van Camp baked beans were just that...tasting like canned, very bland. Nothing special about this place honestly. The fact they wouldn't honor all three certificates had nothing to do with the food taste review.
We went to the Tuscun Grill last night and had a great time. We were disappointed there was no blu cheese available BUT the ranch dressing turned out to be delicious. Made in house, it had a peppercorn flavor to it. The bean and rice soup was good and our KC strip steaks were grilled perfectly. We have gone there before and did not care for the pasta side dish so had the Italian potatoes this time. They were great. Our service was EXCELLENT. Our sever did not bug us or interrupt conversation to constantly see if we were doing OK. I did not get her name but she is a real asset to the resturant. I know the polished floor is easier to keep clean but I think it would had an atmosphere of warmth if they would put down carpet. The food and service was excellent and we will go back.
A few days ago I had a great breakfast at Tubby's. The Lumberjack breakfast filled me up and it sure was tasty!!! Fried eggs over medium cooked to perfection. There was no problem substituting biscuits and gravy for the ham slab. I like ham but I was in the mood for biscuits and gravy. The pancakes were BIG and tasty as was everything I ate. I have only had one meal at this place with its new ownership. I believe the new owners have done a fine job of renewing the old. I will be returning in the future. I will likely order a smaller breakfast offering since I was just too stuffed with that Lumberjack breakfast!!!! I must admit I am getting older and unable to eat as much as in the past.
Living in the Atlanta area, we are familiar with many great restaurants. We were in the Springfield area visiting family and this restaurant intrigued us. We decided to try it--great decision! The restaurant itself is amazing--the decor was unique and so inviting. We especially loved the booths downstairs. We felt like we were in our own private space. The food was outstanding and so reasonably priced. We had several dishes but especially loved the Tequenos and the Drunken Goat Seco--so unlike anything we had ever tasted before. We met the owners who are as friendly and welcoming as family. If you are in the area, this is definitely worth the trip. You won't be disappointed!
An older casual restaurant near 44 on West Chestnut - Don't come here if your on a diet & Don't come here unless you really hungry....... This place is known for the great food with the best prices in the Springfield and you get a lot of good food for the money... A full dinner will cost 7 to 9 bucks - I am not sure what the most expensive dinner on the menu even is ? 10 maybe 11 bucks, I never got it because I cant eat all of just the standard ones.... Even though it is 30 mile trip from our house it is worth it..... BUT When were are going to the airport or bringing in a group of friends in we never miss a chance to stop and eat at Ali's... There's a lot of "hole-in-the-wall" BBQ places in Springfield - Buckingham's, Pappy's, Crosstown, etc. - all pretty good. And then there are the higher end places like Famous Dave's and Rib Crib. Holler Boys stands up in both taste and quality to all of these while being slightly cheaper. Their meats and sauce don't set them apart from the others (I didn't try their ribs) but they are tasty. Highlights are the homemade fries and fried pickles. They don't have seating so plan for take-out. Certainly worth dropping in if you want some quick, decent BBQ to take home on the cheap.
Full disclosure, I am a huge Ruby Tuesday fan. I have dined at Ruby Tuesday Restaurants all over the country. Unfortunately, my last home was no where around a Ruby Tuesday. I am currently staying in Springfield and the N. Glenstone RT is close to my mother's home. I frequently go to RT for a late lunch. The price, entrees, salad bar and service is great. It is a casual restaurant and there is no feeling of needing to dress up or any crap like that. You can just go in, enjoy a meal and your party's company. Nice, casual place to dine by yourself, friends, or family.
