I have now eaten at Old Chicago twice. The first time was a Saturday night with another couple. We waited an hour to be seated. There is no waiting area just standing in the middle of everyone coming and going. When we were finally seated we were pleased to see a menu with a wide selection. We ordered our food and waited and waited. They brought our food and my friend's pizza was wrong. They said we could have that one and would make another one. After another wait the waiter came and told us they forgot to make it. So after another wait the right pizza finally arrived. We were all finished eating by the time the pizza arrived. After another 20 minutes we got our dessert. It took forever to get anything in this place. The food turned out to be ok but nothing special. The second time we ate at Old Chicago we went on a Thursday night, We waited about 45 minutes this time to be seated. We had a party of seven and there were several other big parties. We waited about 15 minutes for a waitress to even come to our table. We ordered food and drink immediately to be sure we got our order going. Our order came out about 30 minutes later and my Calzone was wrong. Once again, I had to wait. By the time I got the right Calzone everyone in my party was completely finished eating. When we finally got a waitress to come bask we got drink refills and asked for our dessert. Dessert came about 30 minutes later, We had a couple of slices of cheesecake and a couple of big cookies. They ran out of the dough for the cookies and just made one big one instead of individual ones as the menu stated. Needless to say after spending 3 hours in this place we were ready to leave, The service was terrible and the food ok. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon,
Great concept, even better prices. Menu has a huge selection. You can make just about anything you can think of such as: Thai chicken, Buffalo, and even taco pizzas. They even have traditional/boneless wings with several sauce options, and salads. They use the new digital touchscreen soda fountains which I love because of all the different combinations, like coke with lime. Now, that being said, the establishment is brand new and the employees have no clue what they are doing. Most are high school age, and look totally lost when building the pizzas. I have been several times and such inexperience shows, i.e. - multiple toppings have been forgotten, seasonings dumped in one heap on the pizza, using laughably small amounts of cheese, and toppings spread terribly or piled in the middle only. They also cannot use the the register and have charged me incorrectly, given the wrong receipt copy, ect... Once the kids are trained a little longer and gain some confidence, this place could be a gem. Don't let that stop you from going, you just might have to coach them as they make your pizza for a few weeks.
Howdy y'all. Just a comment/opinion. Ate at the local Pizza Inn; the old-timers reduced price night. Five bucks for all the imbiber can shovel in at the Inn. The salad bad was good. Not huge but with enough healthy goodies to ingest. Plenty of pizza-types up for grabs, including several desert-type pizzas. Thin-style crusts assist in keeping costs, carbs and calories minimized to an extent. Meager topping but for the price whaddya' bums expect? besides, the topping amounts here generally reflect the smaller amounts their non-budget competitors are following themselves. Parmesan cheese and dried chili shakers at each table or booth. Also deserts at the salad bar; jello, a couple puddings, etc. A decent meal for the price but you high-falutin' nose-in-the-air types would likely shun this "regular folks" eatin' joint.
Oh my gosh. They were the sweetest people. I received the wrong pizza for a carry-out (easy to do with the Chicago Style since the sauce is on top). I called to let them know and they told me to come and get a new pizza. I was satisfied with that, but they weren't. They also added me to the delivery list, though I am a couple of miles outside the delivery area. The owner then gave me a coupon for 50% off my next order. I was a very happy camper. The owner then personally made my new pizza and insisted on refunding my money. They have made a lifelong customer. They really care about their customers. Thanks guys
Nice to have someplace new to eat in the neighborhood. Bigg's here in Springfield is a lot smaller than the one in Republic but the same great St. Louis style pizza. Nobody around can touch it, the cheese is to die for and they have a terrific variety of toppings. I just found out that they have Calzones and NY style pizza as well. Had a Pepperoni and Sausage Calzone....awesome, I can't wait to try the NY style pizza now. Best thing about this, I never have to leave my house!
St. Louis Style Pizza....YAAAAAAAAAAA! Just up the street. Now I don't have to drive 5 miles to get the other stuff that is different every time I eat there. Mr. Biggs is now my new pizza fix. I am not much on salads but the cheese on my salad made me realize what they mean when they say Taste the Difference. St. Louis has many awesome pizza places but Mr. Bigg's would definitely give them a run. If I could only say two words about it, it would be TRY IT!
I went to Mr. Bigg's to try the St. Louis style pizza that I have been hearing so much about from my friends but ended up getting a Calzone instead because someone at the table next to us was having one and it looked sooooo good! Well, it was the best Calzone I have ever had, loved it! My daughter ordered the spaghetti and she really liked it as well. We are definitely coming back to check out the pizza. Great place to eat!
i recently went to LCP to get some food and while i got the same service i did many years ago i discovered the prices have gone up alot even though we have been in the middle of a recesion for over 1 year yet the prices are still high in comparison dominos is running better price deals the other bad thing is the fact that they dont have any red crushed peppers or par. cheese like all the other pizza places do
Springfield get ready to be amazed. Especially if you love pizza. The food tastes so fresh. We love Chicago style pizza and haven't been able to find it here, untill now. My husband and I ordered a large chicago style and cheese bread and had left overs. Completely satisfied. The service was outstanding and the make you feel important, the way a buisness should. We highly recommend you try it.
My wife heard about a place that had the best pizza in town, so we tried it. Absolutely true. The pizza was amazing. From the crust to the piled high toppings it was great. The price was a little high but when you see the portion size you see why. We have never had such a filling pizza. We found our pizza heaven.
