Kurk Homes is a 3rd generation Custom Home builder. We have been serving the Houston market for over 24 years. I’d like to say that of the 350 plus Design Built custom homes we have built in the Houston area we have never had a difficult customer to work with. Unfortunately, that would not be true or possible. Building a totally unique custom home verses a production home can be stressful at times. Though we work openly with all our customers and diligently review and explain the custom home building process prior to signing any contract, a few customers never the less struggle with certain aspects of the procedure. We pride ourselves on working through these “stressful” periods in a honest and professional manner, and seek to compromise when unforeseen situations occur. In Mr. Alberts case, this was not possible. After repeated failed attempts to work together with Mr. Alberts, it became apparent for the good of all concerned, the best course of action was to return ALL his money and part ways on the best possible terms. Yellow pages is not the proper forum for us to counter any slanderous or derogatory claims made. Instead, we invite you to contact Kurk Homes and discuss how the building process is handled by us, and more importantly, talk to some of the hundreds of satisfied Kurk Homes customers. Need bricks for repair one of your house was biuld on 2007.please tell me where to go,need to repair a house as soon as possible
Very unprofessional staff. From calling to make an appt to discuss building a home, to an incompetent salesperson (Amber Stephens). At the appt when we asked Amber the time frame for building a house we were told by Amber that it would take 10 month minimum, my husband voiced his opinion that we found another home builder that could complete the house in a shorter time span. Well Amber did not like that and basically left us high and dry in a model home and we had to show ourselves around the rest of the homes. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
Zac gets paid by the home owner. He has a set fee per square ft. Everything else goes to the sub contractor. The only reason Zac would not pay a bill is if the contractor did not do the work or did not do a good job. He has no reason to not pay someone for work because he gets the same amount no matter what happens. If there is a cost overrun the home owner pays for it. He builds custom homes not tract homes. Probably this contractor is claiming work that he cannot prove he did!
I am enjoying quality of Kurk Homes!!
In June 2013, I completed a year-long process that included walking my house almost daily, watching the construction of my home, dealing with the financial aspects, and the father/daughter dynamics of Termeer and Associates aka Termeer Custom Homes aka Termeer Design Group. I also spent 3-1/2 months since moving into my home waiting for subs to show up to complete the punch list---often, they did not, or they would show up with zero notice.Regarding Termeer's financial stability: I would advise anyone who considers hiring Termeer to conduct a public records search of the man and his company before entering into a contract with him. Go here: https://gov.propertyinfo.com/tx-montgomery/ and register to use Montgomery County's online records search. It's free. Once you have registered, log on and do a name search for John J Termeer and also Termeer and Associates. THIS IS PUBLIC INFORMATION! Pay close attention to any liens, abstract of judgments, and a Dec. 2012 reverse mortgage associated with Termeer and/or his company. Ask for Termeer's resume. If he gives it to you, check everything for accuracy. Verify all claims of prior employment. Ask if he has left any other past employment off of his resume. For example, ask him about his association with International Body Shop in the early 1980's. Ask John Termeer about his position as manager of Tk Group, LLC, which according to the TX Secretary of State was licensed Oct. 4, 2013. Verify any college degrees he claims to have received by paying a small fee and using the National Student Clearinghouse's degree verify services online. http://www.studentclearinghouse.org/colleges/degreeverify/ Try to google search and call all the professional societies (if he has listed them on his resume and/or LinkedIn), and verify he was/is a member---particularly the American Society of Civil Engineers.Ask Termeer about his website www.termeer.com and the homes that are listed today (2/14/14) as "available." Zillow.com shows that 10 Glensheen Way was built in 2006 and is not available for sale. It shows 27 N Fazio Way was built in 2007 and is not available for sale. Some months back, I walked through 27 N Fazio and met the owner. Also what about the two other men in the photo under "meet the builder" at Termeer's website. Ask Termeer who they are and do they still work for/with him. Ask him why information on his website appears to be incorrect (outdated) in 2014. Ask Termeer couldn't his website be viewed by some in 2014 as "deceptive practices to obtain business?" Then ask him exactly how many people (not subs---people on the Termeer payroll) work for him, and who walks the property daily during construction. Ask to meet that person BEFORE signing the contract. Ask Termeer if anyone has sued him or his company in the past. Ask him if anyone is currently suing him---and if so, why? Ask if he has sued anyone, and if so, why? Ask him: What was the outcome of any/all lawsuits? And lastly, if Termeer's contract is a Greater Houston Builders Association contract, MAKE SURE Termeer attaches "Exhibit H" (Disclosure Statement for a Residential Construction Project), which states: "Texas law requires your contractor to provide you with this brief overview of some of your rights, responsibilities, and risks in this transaction. Know your contractor"..."make sure you have investigated your contractor." Under "Monitor Payments," "Exhibit H reads": "Your contractor is also required to furnish you with a statement at least once each month of money disbursed to subcontractors and suppliers for this project. Review these statements and make sure that the money is being properly disbursed." Then ask Termeer, "Will you be furnishing me with a statement once a month of money disbursed to subcontractors and suppliers for my project?" Would I recommend John Termeer, Termeer Custom Homes, Termeer Design Group aka Termeer and Associates? No!
