The ladies that run this company are amazing. They are incredibly compassionate, caring, and understanding. We had a very difficult situation and from the moment they were made aware of the issue they did everything they could to ensure it came to a positive conclusion. From Beth, the owner, to all the lovely ladies who work in the office, they truly care on a very human level and you couldn't ask for a better landlord. Bare in mind Gates rent to hundreds of very happy and satisfied tenants. Typically the only people who leave reviews are people who had a negative experience and generally those people had some personal responsibility in the negative situation and like to push the blame onto others. I wouldn't hesitate to rent from these awesome people.
Also worth noting that the negative review from the person regarding caged pets.... they were breeding rats in their apartment and made the whole building stink ... and even then the staff tried to help them with their transition out! Good luck finding any landlord that would allow you to breed a large number of rats in a rental apartment!

From an outside perspective, the people that work there are wonderful. They have a hard job of communicating between the property owners and the issues that come up from the property renters, and more often than not, they get blamed for the owners unwillingness to fix an issue.
They work with people from all walks of life regarding applications.
Good people to work for and reasonable prices on their rentals.
I would suggest them to any of my friends looking to rent.

They are awful people they never told us how many caged pets were too many we stated on our application that we had SEVERAL page cages with rats in them. We are being kicked out as a result. They have been rude and stuck up the whole time and we left our laundry in the dryer ONE time on accident and then it was the only thing she brought up every time she saw us. We've also gotten smoking complaints and have never smoked in or around the building I wish we would have looked harder for a place to rent. Gates is awful and I would never rent from them ever again.

Usually the only people who leave reviews are the unhappy people. But I had an awesome experience with Gates Realty! They were kind and generous and treated me like a person. I loved the apartment I rented from them for over a year and a half. Plus I got my entire deposit back. They were great!

They are the BEST property management company I have ever rented from. They are very quick with repairs, getting your depoist back and they are very honest!! I love there property manager Cori she is great always willing to hellp! I would recommend them to everyone! If you are looking for a rental call them first they are cheapest application fee in town!!!

We are the perfect tenants. We paid our rent in a lump sum at least 6 months in advance, we gave more than 30 days notice, and we left that place so amazingly clean. The property manager did a walk thru with us and everything was perfect. We moved out on June 20, 2013 and it is now 7/15/13 and we have not received our deposit back yet. I called when it was late and they said it would come within another week but it never came. By law a landlord in Wa has to return a deposit within 14 days. If the deposit is not returned with a letter stating deductions the landlord has to return the entire deposit without any deductions. we are going to small claims court to get our deposit plus damages back so that others don't have to go thru this. I should have checked the BBB becasue they have a D- rating. By the way, the property manager named Morgin was awesome. She was always around and always pleasant to speak to. As far as property managers go she was the best.

They are a bunch of crooks!!! I specifically asked, in a letter that I gave them with my notice, to be present for the walk through and was never contacted and then I got a letter in the mail, after the time frame they were supposed to get me my deposit back, saying I wasnt getting my deposit back because they had to charge me for some things. I called to find out what they were charging me for and Cori was completely rude to me and said it was for the sink not being cleaned, a drip down the side of the freezer and the blinds. It was a complete lie because we cleaned that place and it was cleaner when I moved out than it was when I moved in! DO NOT RENT FROM GATES REALTY!!!! And if you are a owner I would recommend chosing a different management company.

As an owner, I have found working with this company very frustrating. As I pay them to "manage" my property, I end up managing it with coordinating the repairs and the tenants. Charges are posted without notifying me and getting a copy of repair bills from them has been trying. To top it off, the checks for the rent arrive well after the "contracted" date. I cannot speak as a tenant, but as an owner, I feel that this company should provide much more for the fees that they charge.

i rented from gates for some time when i went to move they tried to keep my deposit and made up a lot of lies when i told them i wanted to walk through with them and see what they said was wrong they said no and i would have my deposit in the mail
