What a disappointment and waste of money. We had a group of 12 people it took 40 minutes on a Tuesday night in an empty restaurant before they even took the drink order. Our waiter got at least half of our meals wrong and didn't even check back or notice that all but one person had their meal. We had to hunt down the waiter to bring it to his attention 20 minutes into the meal. There were no refills and no check back to ensure that food was delivered. Poor, poor service. The manager didn't even seem to care and because of this experience we will never return. If the food was good then maybe we could over look the horrible service but the food is so bland my Mexican food taste more authentic.
If I could choose a "last meal", the fajitas at Rancho Viejo would be my choice. I visit Spokane at least twice a year and I always ordered them at least twice during my visits. Ask them to "burn them" and they will be nice and browned. The salsa here is the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant (the hot is better than the mild). The vegetarian burrito is a surprisingly delicious feast. And I mean feast. It's hard for my mom and I to finish one between the two of us. The service is wonderful and I don't even have to tell the server what I want to drink. They remember. (Diet Coke with grenadine.)
The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the cost is on the high side for a casual restaurant. $16 for fajitas is steep. But, I pay it. Also, the tortilla soup is greasy and flavorless. Stick with the combo platers or fajitas.

The easy things first: the food is good. So try getting it to-go and make sure it's hasn't gone bad before you eat it.
Other than that, the experience was horrible!
I went there with a friend. There was a group of employees drinking (although I'm assuming it was after their shift has ended, I still think it is unprofessional); not only were these guys loud and obnoxious among themselves, they also kept whistling at my friend. It was distubring!
The food was good, but ironically her and I both were sick in the morning and both of us were perfectly fine prior to going to the place...go figure.
Their house margaritas are sour with no liquor; reminds you of a mix you can buy at a store.
The service was below par and not very attentive.
Although the whistling and constant turning heads from the drunk employees was plenty of attention.
Last time I'm ever going to that place, especially with a girl!

I realize I am biased growing up in the Bay Area, but that also gives me an edge for what tastes good and what doesn't. I'd say the food here is definitely below average. The salsa is good and spicy, the rice and beans were good, but the tamale - egads. Swimming in a strange thick brown sauce, and though I ordered beef, I got chicken - which the waitress actually argued with me about saying that their beef happens to be white and taste like chicken(?!)... The chicken taco was OK, pretty flavorless though stuffed with meat. The Chile Relleno was atrocious and just disgusting. It had a fried egg wrapped around it instead of the usual battered/fried coating. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and will keep searching for really good Mexican food.
