Payed $700 for them to stitch up my dog after a dog fight. Two days later the wound opened up and they wanted to charge another $400 to fix the wound because they didnt stitch it properly in the first place. I explained I didn't have any more money and they sent me home to care for it myself. Any other vet would have apologize and offer to fix the problem with minimal charges if any.

I initially took my Border Collie Akita Mix dog in to get his eye checked out. We were having a hard time getting a muzzle on him as he does not like to be inspected. The vet talked about an injection to put him to sleep and then another injection to wake him back up. We were skeptical, because he was an old dog and felt it might not be safe. Then the vet suggested Acepromazine, a sedative or tranquilizer. My dad and I were under the impression that this was a safe alternative. A month later my dog died. My best friend of ten years died and I cannot express in words the immense pain I feel.

I feel the vet did not take proper precaution and I did not do proper research. Not only was my dog sensitive to this drug due to being an old and large breed, but also border collies sometimes have a mdr1 gene mutation that causes even more sensitivity and possible complications. The vet did not mention this or advise testing for this gene mutation.

I feel drugs are not to be used lightly. It seems doctors, for pets and humans, all too easily lean on drugs. I would of rather my dog experience stress of us using a lasso method then having him experience such intense stress on his organs and dying.

Please, please, please pet owners out there, research any drug given. I am usually skeptical of drugs and placed an unusual trust on someone who "studies" and practices medicine as I was scared. And now my heart, my world, has crashed down before me as I attempt to cope with the loss of the most precious being in my life.

No need to respond to my review with a sorry because that will not bring my baby back.

Tomorrow will be one year since my beautiful maltese mix died. She was diagnosed and treated for kennel cough by this "hospital". After paying for expensive tests, was told she needed more or I must euthanize her there and then (must be expensive). Will never forgive them, either seriously incompetent or just very greedy. Stay away!

This veterinarian clinic is absolutely amazing. I brought in my boyfriend's pit bull, who is 11 and showing concerning signs... increased trouble breathing, isolating, loss of appetite and depression. Dr. Crumley was our vet and Lauren was the technician. Dr. Crumley's bedside manner was beyond amazing. I had a horrible feeling in my stomach, and he kept me calm and took great care of my sweet pup! After doing basic radiology, he needed to do an Echo, and he was very upfront and honest with me about what the results could show. Her heart was extremely enlarged and was surrounded by blood. Once we did the Echo, my worst fears were confirmed, as we found a mass and she was diagnosed with a cardial effusion (bleeding of the heart and a mass). We decided to do end of life care, and euthanize her. They provided warm towels, they explained every step in great detail, and sat with me the whole time and cried with me. The Dr. was at her left side, patting and rubbing her. Lauren was holding her head, and comforting me. And, I got to hold my sweet girl and sing to her until the very end. After it was all over, they stayed with me for nearly an hour while I got myself together, and Lauren held Sasha as I left... They took great care of her from the minute we walked in, through the end of her life, and until she came back cremated to us just a few short days later. :) I was able to come back with my boyfriend later that day to finalize payment (which was extremely fair), and they talked him through everything as well. They helped us make a beautiful plaque, and she lives in our hearts forever... We received a beautiful card, poem and paw prints in the mail, which we plan on using for my boyfriend's tattoo. I will NEVER EVER go anywhere else, this vet has my family's heart. As we have a 14 year old cat, and a 7 year old dog... we will be using them for any and all care. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Above and beyond doesn't even do them justice. I will never be able to thank you enough for being so kind and sweet, during one of the worst times of my life.

I would never recommend to anyone, ever.

About two to three years ago we brought our German Shepherd to them because she had lost a lot of weight & was throwing up multiple times a day. When we got there, they were great. They need to keep our dog over night so we left & waited until the next morning. Expecting to wake up to a happy phone call on the fourth of July, (they called me by the way, I was 16 at the time) I was instead woken up by them telling my dog didn't make it. So we took the necessary steps that followed. After, we received an enormous bill for our dog who didn't even make it. Now, mind you, we had just moved here from New York & my mother was unemployed so paying the bill off right away was going to be impossible. They said they would keep our dog until the bill was paid. Just recently, after getting 110% back on our feet, we paid the bill. So, once again, expecting to hear that we can come get our dog to surprise to my sister (she loved our dog endlessly & was crushed when she heard that she didn't make it) before she was sent off on a deployment with the Air Force, we are told that they have misplaced her... They lost our dog... I would never in my life expect a vet hospital to lose someone's dog considering that they are supposed to be pet lovers themselves.

Do not bring your pets here.

Take money but never fix problem.

This place is terrible. They will try to get as much money out of you as they can without fixing the problem! I have spent close to $4000.00 at this place in the past few months trying to help my dog. They keep beating around the bush charging for everything under the sun. Seen a new vet today who said all my dog has is a cyst that needs to be removed and for $380.00 he can remove it. Can you believe they charged me $4, 000 for a $380.00 fix! And all these months my dog has had to suffer with pain from the cyst and all the strong medicine that made him so sick that was totally un needed.. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF, LET YOUR ANIMAL SUFFER AND NEVER FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO GET THE MOST MONEY OUT OF YOU THST THEY CAN! SHAME ON YOU BARING BLVD ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!! THEY DONT CARE FOR ANIMALS THEY CARE ABOUT MONEY, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

great experience

Our dog had been diagnosed with cancer awhile back. We wanted a second opinion so we took her in to see Dr. Baker. He took time going over all the different types of cancer with us and did not give us any false hopes. The compassion and professional attitude was genuine. Knowing how we were feeling we were treated with respect and compassion. The whole experience could not have gone any better. We were able to take our girl home knowing we can make her last days happy and not feel guilty when we do have to make the decision to let her go. The staff, the facilities, and most of all Dr. Baker were all very professional just want to say thank you.

We Highly Recommend

Thirteen years ago we gained a new family member by adopting  an adorable freckle nosed fluff ball that we named Samantha. Sam brought us so much joy, comfort, security and laughter over the years...so it was with a great deal sadness that we had to say our goodbyes this past Tuesday. We were fortunate to have the staff at Baring Boulevard Veterinary Hospital by our side, they were amazing from start to finish. And Dr. Luchette was especially gentle and comforting with Samantha. Then today when checking the mail I found that they went well beyond what I would have expected. I received a beautiful card with handwritten condolences along with a very touching poem inserted in the card. I do not know what else to say...their love and compassion is absolutely outstanding!!!

When people ask me about this ...

When people ask me about this hospital and what I think about them I reply with.... they saved my dog's life! To me that's all the review they need.

Not too long ago my dog Hannah got into something. I didn't know it at the time until several days later because she was acting fine. It wasn't until she lost her appetite, stopped drinking, and started vomiting did I then realize something was going on. I came in at 8:25 pm right before they closed. Most places when you walk in that late will turn you away, but they stayed and made me feel comforted while I worried what was going on with my dog. I was there well past when they closed while they rad some test on Hannah.

I saw Dr. Luchetti both him and his assistant took the time to go over what was going on and what Hannah could have gotten into. Long story short we believe she got into a pack of gum, and had some early signs of liver failure. She ended up being staying in the hospital for 3 days on IV fluids. Every day, and twice a day I got a call from the Doctor telling me how Hannah was doing and going over the next steps. I don't care who you are that is impressive. I also like that fact that before they did anything they gave me an estimate as to how much the treatment was going to cost.

I am not a rich person by any means, and pretty much live pay check to pay check. When I spoke to Dr. Luchetti he told me about a credit card that would be interest free for 6 months. Luckily I qualified, and was able to get Hannah the treatment she needed. Which is good because they were a bit on the pricey side, but it's understandable because they practice a high standard of care.

With out this place, these people, and the medicine they practice I am sure Hannah wouldn't be with me. So sorry all of those who have had a bad experience, but as far as I am concerned Baring Blvd is the BEST!

Fantastic!!

I have used Baring for both my dogs. Being a nurse I observe bedside manor with people, its nice to know that Baring has great bedside manor for my pets. The talk calmly to the them and also always take the time to explain and go over what they did. I have had the assistants call later to check to make sure my animals were OK and was told to call back ANYTIME with questions and concerns. The front and back office staff have also provided great customer service. I will continue to use Baring as I feel they are the best.

I am newer to Nevada and did n...

I am newer to Nevada and did not realize there are very few laws regulating who can perform invasive procedures (like a blood draw from your animal's neck).

The first time our dog went here it was an emergency.  The second time we went was because our regular vet was no longer practicing.  Upon entering for the second visit our dog was nervous.  Which is odd because I had never seen this behavior from my dog, who has had plenty of exposure to vets...5 yrs old, micro chipped twice and has had one knee rebuilt.

The vet tech (my false assumption!) took our dog for her routine heartworm blood test and a toenail clipping.  I think i heard my dog crying in the backroom.  She came back with our dog and never addressed anything, even though my dog was visibly stressed and panting.

My dog was sniffing around and could obviously smell other dogs' urine.  I picked her up so she wouldn't pee.  The staff member rudely told me "oh don't worry.  She already peed on me."

Confused (bc this did not sound like my dog) I asked if this happened when she cut her nails.  She said "no, when i muzzled her."

First, I had no idea my dog was being muzzled.  Second, she didn't think that was probably a cue to stop and re evaluate?  Or in the very least let the dog owners know what occurred????

Then i get home and look online and find out she is a "customer service representative" who answers phone and assists with rooming patients.

I understand that Nevada is lax in their laws, but I assumed if i chose a reputable vet office, that i would get reasonable care for my animal.  I wouldnt expect for a vet to hire someone off the street for minimum wage with NO FORMAL TRAINING and allow them to stick a needle into my dog's neck.

When i complained, the owner called me.  He just told me (repeatedly) that it was legal in Nevada.

He claimed '90% of the time a licensed vet tech or vet does those types of procedures'.  And it is not saying a lot of what they think of their profession or skills if 10% of the time they let the work be done by someone with absolutely no education just because they are too lazy, busy or cheap to do the procedure themselves.

When i asked him if the pet owner should be notified when there dog is visibly stressed.  He said yes.  But never explained changes he would make in his clinic to speak to staff to make sure that happens.

He was rude and unapologetic.  Refusing to apologize for having unqualified staff or for not notifying me of the incident with my animal.  Instead he focused on his right in Nevada to hire unqualified staff.  And that he has to muzzle because one bite could open them to millions in liability. (My dog is a 9lb yorkie mix, millions in liability?)

I didn't realize this was some cheapo clinic.  I would much rather pay more and know my dog was being well cared for by a licensed professional.

Bottom line...if you care about your animals well being, DON'T GO HERE.

HORRIBLE BEDSIDE MANNER! RUDE!...

HORRIBLE BEDSIDE MANNER! RUDE! NEVER CALLED BACK WHEN SAID THEY WOULD CALL. Just completely unprofessional and would not advise anyone to take their pets there. Our dog got a Rattlesnake bite and was very swollen in the neck, head and mouth area. One of the orderlies came out to get our dog and just started yanking on her leash and didn't even talk to her and she did not want to go. Instead of him stopping and taking the right action with our dog I had to tell him to stop and that she was swollen and hurting from a snake bite and his response was, "I know...". How rude could you be and so uncaring for the animals well-being? Next, the first day we arrived we told one of the clinics Dr.'s that we had very little to no money because we were struggling and had our wedding the next week and most of our previous funds before the bite had gone to that. She said, "well maybe you should have a closed bar instead of an open bar" I myself did not hear this but my fiance did. Lucky for the Dr. Next, we got blood work done and we couldn't afford to have her hospitalized and had to bring her home. They promised a call back with an email of the blood work. 20 min before they closed we ended up getting a blood result paper sent to our email but NO CALL. They didn't tell us the acronyms or ways to help in certain area to ensure better care for our dog. They just worry about if you are going to pay and send you on your way. HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT USING THIS CLINIC ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION.

no concern here

I took my beloved dog here for over 13yrs. At 13…1/2 was running here constantly for breathing problems and passing out. Of course there were extensive expensive tests ultrasounds etc. The thing is they NEVER checked my boys heart! My boy suffered for months before finally passing away from congestive heart failure which was diagnosed in two minutes at advanced pet care. My boy could have stood a chance on meds for heart and diuretics. I can never forgive this place for their ignorance and lack of concern! Especially having a CANINE CARDIAC SPECIALIST missing this completely! Go here for simple things like vaccines and toenial clips but for ANYTHING MAJOR FORGET THIS PLACE!! What do they care except for MONEY! My boy is gone he suffered for months. If i would have known this was so serious i would not have let him suffer. BAD CLINIC BAD DOCTORS AND BAD FOR NOT CARING!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I have been going to this vet ...

I have been going to this vet for roughly 20 years. Originally they were good but I have found on my last few visits, the vet techs are stupid! My dog had ringworm and I told them I needed the ringworm medication.

They forced me to make an office visit to "diagnose" the problem which I can understand because they are tring to make money. When I arrived the "Vet" didn't know what it was. I told her it is ringworm and I need the medication so I can treat my dog.

They forced me to get them to take a sample so they could grow it and make the right diagnosis but I told them "it IS ringworm, please provide me the meds so I can treat my dog". They finally gave me the meds after arguing with the lady for an extended period of time and received a call a week later telling me it was ring worm... No SH*T!

I had another issue and I thought the previous experience was an isolated one, so I went back again. I had a different vet tech that was an idiot too!

Not only are most of the vets in this place stupid... They also have exorbitant fees that are NOT made up by GREAT service (like one of the other reviewers claimed).

I am switching vets... Enough said.

I have been going to Baring fo...

I have been going to Baring for the past 7 years. While the prices and staff do change I find the care they provide to my 6 year old beagle Rylee is unsurpassed. I don’t know how others who have written reviews feel, but in my eyes I know I am getting the service and care that I am paying for. They are also one of the few hospitals that are open 7 days a week (w/o charging extra to see your pet if you don’t have an appt.) The Doctors and their assistants answer my questions and always return my calls and emails that day (my own Doctor takes a week to responsed to me). I especially love the fact that Rylee is so clam and seems happy to go to the vet and see her doctors (Dr Jackie and Dr Kim). Baring is a wonderful place to take my “furry- child”, I don’t know that I would go any where else and feel as comfortable/confident in the care she is being provided.

To respond to Joni F. the reason why they are more expensive is the difference in the quality of care. If you don't care how your animal is treated while having his procedure done, then take him to the humane society where they will do it for $60. If you are like me and would like there to be several people helping assist with the nueter, to make sure nothing goes wrong, have meds that actually keep his pain down, and also someone to monitor your pet as he is recovering, body temp, status, and taken for a walk after he comes to, so he doesn't have to sit in urine or feces to wait for it to be changed. Then you might mind the higher tag, to make sure your pet has good care. (Just so you know, you dont want your animal to sit in deficated matter with an fresh wound.) I used to work at this hospital, as well as a customer for 10+ years. I would reccomend any of the vets for superb care, but I do have a favorite, Dr. John Crumley.

Baring above and beyond in pet health care

Baring vet has been like a second home to us. Our dog Blazie recently got into rat bait and had to stay at the hospital for a couple of days. The amount of attention the doctors and their staff gave Blazie and myself was amazing. I would go in to visit her to try and lift her spirits and the staff gave me coffee and cookies and made sure I was doing ok. If anybody is looking for a vet hospital that goes above and beyond Baring is hospital.

My experience at Baring Vet

I have taken my two cats and 3 dogs to Baring Vet. Hospital for a few years now. All the doctors are very knowledgeable, with my favorite being Dr. Luchetti. Having so many pets its good to know that he really cares about them. A few months ago my dog Maizy was diagnosed with cancer, and during those 3 weeks in the end, both Maizy and I were treated with compasion. I love the fresh cookies and coffee, and staff has always been very friendly.
