Flooring
We use the following in-house trade capabilities: concrete – foundations, flooring, architectural; excavation, backfill, earth retention; steel erection; rough and finish carpentry; and selective demolition.
Framing
Installation of a new chiller cooling tower and associated equipment systems and infrastructure at the Ann Arbor NVFEL Facility for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The chiller addition required structural steel framing to rooftop and mechanical/electrical work inside and outside of the building. The chiller was roughly 33,000 lbs with 2 cells that condition 2,400 gpm each throughout the EPA facility in Ann Arbor, MI.

Landscaping and Fencing

Excavation
We dug 2 stories below the surface to cut into the side of one of the monoliths to connect the new building we were installing to the existing Poe Lock North gallery. This process was done by using engineered shoring to hold the crushed limestone back from the excavation. During excavation, we encountered large red sandstone boulders that were mixed in with the crushed limestone. Some other challenges we encountered were space restraints in the galleries, weather conditions of the great north, material delivery and logistics with over water transport (all concrete had to be barged over for all pours-used a special mix design that would allow the concrete to be in the trucks for up to 6hrs), and the integration of all electrical and mechanical equipment into 1 building PLC to control all functions of the building.

Demolition
This project was a fuel farm expansion to the EPA’s existing fuel dispensing system that Brix Corporation installed a few years prior. This ground up expansion included the fuel storage tanks, fill stations, and all associated mechanical/electrical control systems to create full functional fueling station. Major activities for this project include site demolition, earth retention system, concrete foundations and utilities tunnel, stainless mechanical piping, and electrical controls.

Siding
Heavy-Duty Chassis Dynamometer Test site is a unique 10,000-square-foot expansion to the NVFEL laboratory, which will allow EPA to test the largest buses and semi-tractors for fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions. The ground up facility was a challenging project with project footprint location and poor soils. The major scopes of work involved earth retention, concrete, structural steel, mechanical equipment & controls, electrical systems, insulated metal panel siding, and architectural glazing. This project was a huge success and very rewarding with it being one of only a few tractor dynamometer test sites in the world
Residential Roof Repair
This project was the addition and demolition work to provide a Fuel Dispensing Facility Renovation in Ann Arbor NVFEL Facility for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The work had to be performed in two phases with temporary walls and roofing constructed to enclose phase 1 and then removal of these walls and roofing to allow for new construction in phase 2. This new fuel dispensing facility is now fully updated with today’s new technology advanced services that includes touch screen displays and multiple types of fuel dispensing. This projects major tasks included mechanical equipment, stainless steel piping, fuel system controls, CO2 fire suppression system, and electrical powering.
Residential Roof Replacement/Installation
Demolition and construction work to provide Heavy Duty Test Cell Addition and Vehicle Compliance Building Addition. The HD addition serves as service shop to work on vehicles which includes a large rail crane and material lift. The VC addition serves as a vehicle storage and prep room to get vehicles ready for dyno testing. The HD and VC building additions were both ground up facilities that connected to the existing building on two sides. The major activities for this project included site demolition, concrete, structural steel, masonry, insulated metal siding, mechanical, electrical, overhead cranes, and roofing.

Electrical Work
Carpentry
This project is a complete interior renovation of the manufacturing systems engine lab at the University of Michigan Dearborn Campus. The remodel was approximately 10,000 SF of existing laboratory and office space that included the following trades: demolition, carpentry rough framing & finishing, laboratory furniture, fire protection, mechanical & plumbing, electrical and telecommunications systems.
Insulation
This project was to provide and install four new pre-purchased roof top units, repair roof insulation and upgrade the control system at the FAB Building. This work required coordination with WSU facility to maintain their daily operations while replacing the roof top units and holding building temp. The construction process required large crane picks around the building to remove and install new roof top units.
