Poor Customer Service

I received a birthday present from my sister. She purchased the Jim Shore gift from this Hallmark store. I already had the same Jim Shore collectible, so naturally, I decided to exchange it for another Jim Shore collectible that I did not already have. Upon attempting to exchange the item, we were informed that they had packed up the Jim Shore seasonal merchandise. One associate brought out a Jim Shore item, but I didn't want that particular one. Instead of checking inventory for the one I requested, she simply asked another associate if they carried that particular collectible. When the associate informed her that she wasn't sure what they had, the associate said that she just needed to talk to the manager. The manager was standing behind the counter eating candy from behind the counter ( candy that they sold, right out of the cabinet). The manager proceeded to tell me that they did not take seasonal items back. I told her that I was trying to exchange it, not return it, but she told me that I could just get a store credit. I could understand if it was seasonal merchandise that had been on clearance, but we were talking about something that they carry year-round, that NEVER goes on sale. Instead of checking inventory, or asking the employees to check inventory, she just stood there eating her candy and never offered any assistance. There were three employees standing at the counter not doing a thing, and none of them offered any sort of customer service. This is the worst experience that I have ever had at any Hallmark store. If I have to go out of my way to find another store, I will do so just to avoid this store and its rude employees.

You recently due to my brain fart, had me arrested when i never left your store, and stopped at security to say goodbye to friend, manager never spoke to me, employees refused to speak up as witness to misunderstanding, due to talking on phone and I never left premises and employee in back room sniggered and made racist comment. I am retaining a lawyer of course since I supposedly resisted arrest, and when offered to buy products to avoid hassle, was refused sale. I have notified corporate offices, and Crabtree and Evelyn and Pilot newspaper, just to let you know items I purchased were returned and this misunderstanding due to over zealous employee will be filed as complaint. I am very disappointed in your staffs ability to grasp and accidentl brain fart and have asked Hallmark to cancel my 20 yr gold membership. And this is also posted to Hallmarks website. These are not threats but letting you know this is all posted to Hallmarks websites.
