My wife just returned from trying to donate 8 bags of clothing and shoes to Human Concerns. She was rudely told that they weren't accepting any donations until after Christmas, and that she should take the items to Value Village. She explained to the woman at the door that she wanted people to have these things and not have to pay for them like they would have to do at Value Village. She was again told to take everything to Value Village. She has given numerous donations to Human Concerns in the past, but will not do so in the future. Apparently they do not want to help needy individuals like they say they do!

since the fall of 2015 or so human concerns has switched to a new director of operations. almost immediately the whole place was transformed(for the better) the ladies treated me very well and they set up a new system; a client pick style. meaning you only take what you want. it makes WAY more sense. this way you don't end up with 2 bags of canned goods you'll never use i.e canned spinach, beets, cranberry sauce ect... at the end you usually get more baked goods(all you want) and then you bag up your own stuff. no biggie. all in all they seemed to have turned over a new leaf and im very satisfied with them the last few months and have seen a dramatic positive change in the workers there. take in account the food, clothing and whatever else you get is FREE.!!---Thank you human concerns.

This place is HORRIBLE! I go here because I have no choice, I need food and other items for myself and 2 kids from time to time, and because I live in South Milwaukee I can not go to Project Concern which is much better with kinder staff. I feel so uncomfortable coming here every time. The director is the rudest woman I have come across and even after I had a fire in my apartment she showed no sympathy. She (the director) watches me like a hawk when I am there, and you are only allowed so many pieces of clothing, so on and so forth. See even started digging into my bags to make sure I didn't steal anything! She has yelled at my daughter because she went to an area that is "off limits" and my daughter being only 5 at the time did not know this. I feel that she and the other staff (except for one very nice woman there) treat people like dirt because they are low income, and makes me feel extremely uncomfortable whenever I go there. I stopped going for almost half a year because it was so bad! Boy when it comes to needing the food pantry, I sure do miss living in Cudahy. At least at Project Concern you are treated with respect and like a human being! This really needs to stop because I believe due to the poor treatment, other people may not come here when they are in need. Something must be done! If you feel the same way, please make complaints to the hunger task force.

I went to this place with my g...

I went to this place with my grandparents because they just came from overseas and do not speak English at all and also they need some food to help them get started. Personally this was the first time I ever visit a place where you can take free stuff from so I did not know what to expect. The lady at the desk was nice and polite while she was checking us in and I thought this isn't so bad you know... then I walked around the place and saw some oven mitts which my grandpa liked and wanted to take them. On the side I noticed there was some boxes so i went ahead and opened one and was looking inside and I noticed there was some old DVD's inside and I said out loud "DVD's Sweet" then out of nowhere this long hair blonde middle aged woman starts yelling at me like " what the hell are you doing? you cant touch that stuff? don't you see the sign?" I got sooo pissed at the moment i wanted to slap the crap out of her. So i said chill out lady I didn't know and walked away. I got so pissed because you could barely notice those little signs they had around and i guess I didn't see them. Anyway she could've talked calmly cause i wouldn't take DVD's from that place anyway, I don't even use DVD's anymore. She should treat people with more dignity. I am going to write a formal complaint letter.
