This place is lovely. We went to a wedding reception in one of the rooms there and it was crowded but great view of the lake on the patio.
They started out being friendly and helpful for my daughter and (now) son-in-law's ceremony, but when my son-in-law, who is in the US Army, got orders that would require him to be sent out of state for 2 weeks which included the date of the ceremony, things got bad. They were given 4 months notice by my daughter and her husband that they would have to cancel, and they have refused to refund any of the $6,000 they had been given. And when asked for an itemized receipt of what they had spent the money on, they refused. They kept $6,000!!! Why couldn't they at least provide an itemized receipt for such a large sum?!?! We hadn't even gotten to the point of giving them a number of attendees yet, so I don't know what they could have even had planned or spent any money on yet! Avoid them, ESPECIALLY if you are in the military!
Do not use this company, ESPECIALLY if you are in the military! They are 100% non-negotiable on refunding you any money, even if you come down on orders that do not allow you to conduct your ceremony on the date you pick. My wife and I gave them a 4 month heads up when I came down on orders to go to training during the time of the ceremony, and they refused to give us a refund of just under $6,000, which is A LOT to just take from us. I asked them if they could show us receipts of actually using the almost $6k we had given them to that point, and they said no. They said in an email, "Having been in the wedding business for 21 years, we have had many reasons for cancellations such as family illness, military deployment and break ups and we have to be firm about this policy." Yes, you read that right. Even if I had been deployed, they would have told me that I was out of luck. A military obligation to defend the country wouldn't separate these people from their money that they made FOR DOING NOTHING, no matter how far out they are informed. Our next steps are to go to small claims court and we're even talking to the local news. Maybe we can keep them from doing this to another military family in the future.
Perfect wedding day... (Mar 14 2013) by Paula_Henley I would like to thank Robert Orr for making our wedding day perfect. He was very professional with a relaxed sense of humor that made us feel very comfortable. His secret hideaway on Emerald Bay was breathtaking. The ceremony was exactly what we wanted and his words were perfect. Nancy did an awesome job with the photography and we will forever cherish the day... I highly recommend Robert and his staff to ensure your special day is perfect as well. (Married on 24 Feb 2013 )
