Matthys Elementary School has twice been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education. It is administered by the Pasadena Independent School District and enrolls students in prekindergarten through grade four. The school has an all-computerized library facility that serves an average of 850 students and has a collection of more than 25,000 books and audiovisual materials. It also offers various reading incentives, including book contests, reading activates, book fairs, authors and storytellers, reading club and weekly story time for lower grades. The school additionally offers bilingual, accelerated reader, gifted and talented education and extended day care programs. Matthys Elementary School is located in South Houston, Texas.
