First let me start by saying that the exterior of the building did kind of set me back at first, but once I went in the interior was much better and the staff was excellent. I met with Jessica and was very impressed. She had wonderful recommendations and never tried to pressure me into buying something that wasn't needed.
I had requested a simple cremation service for my mother. They made it painless for me. The funeral director was polite and compassionate, and helped me make some difficult decisions. I was also very surprised at the low cost.
I lost my brother after a battle with cancer. This was the first time that I had to be directly involved with funeral arrangements and I had no idea what I was doing. Jessica was very kind and informative, and helped me with information about cremation and what to do next. In a difficult time in my life when I needed help they were there for me.
My family has used this company's services on two occasions. I have recommended friends and coworkers as well who have been just as pleased as us. They handled my loved ones cremations expediently and with care! I can not imagine any other funeral home comparing to the price, courtesy, and impeccable service I received at Asheville Mortuary Services. Although I hope to never need funeral arrangements again, if and when I do, they will definitely be made here!
When my cousin passed, at the hospice center in Asheville, he was to be cremated at Asheville Mortuary. First problem I had was they spelled his name wrong in the obituary. Charles was spelled Chalres. I was supposed to be notified when the cremation was to take place, I was not. I was supposed to be notified when my beloved cousin's ashes were to be processed and mailed to a mortuary here in NY, I was not. 50.00 fee was paid for said processing, and I did not even receive a phone call. When his ashes arrived at the mortuary in NY, they had no idea who he was. Luckily they contacted his brother, who then contacted me. Upon arrival at the mortuary in NY, there were many inconsistencies. On the box of ashes, his name was incorrect, on the envelope his name was incorrect, on the actual certificate, his name was correct. There were loose ashes in the box, surrounding my loved ones 'bag' of ashes. It was very messy, undignified and just awful. The mortuary in NY, who received no $$ and as a complimentary convenience, offered me announcement cards and thank you cards, Asheville Mortuary did not offer cards of any kind. I do not live in Asheville NC, but I would recommend you find another mortuary to handle your loved ones final needs. (And the only reason I gave them a star at all, is because I had to to post my review)
After showing up to the veiwing 45 minutes late... leading me to beleive this was just about paperwork... this man immediatly began rushing us, trying to charge an extra fee for extra time when we hadnt even been there a half an hour... lied telling us there eas a family behind us waiting. And that he has a buisness to run.. noone was there but us.. then sneaks the body away the first time noone was.in the room.. then locked us out of the building entirely once stepping out to have other members come and she what he did after he told our cousins to round everyone up for their final goodbyes . My last momemts with my loved ones physical body wete rushed and incessantly interupted.. i strongly encorage anyone to go anywhere else.. I wish we couldve.
