My wife and two kids (6 and almost 2) wanted something quick but good to eat. When we called ahead, they said there was no wait. We arrived at 5:15. We had to wait 15 minutes before we were sat. Then there were no crayons and no silverware. It took another 10 minutes before we were given our drinks. The waitress took our order, handed us some bread, then disappeared.People came and went. No drink refills, no bread, no appetizer, no explanation.The waitress came by with a half-baked excuse - that she didn't know why the appetizer was taking so long. She said that she went ahead and put in our order even though the appetizer hadn't come out yet. Then she disappeared again.I've waited tables for 10 years. First: do not lie to the customer when YOU FORGET to put in the order. I would much rather you be honest. Second: always make sure you are going back to check your tables and make sure they are happy. Three: ALWAYS PUT THE APPETIZER IN WITH THE REST OF THE ORDER. You do NOT wait for the appetizer to come in before putting in the rest of the order.I had to go find the manager. That was around 6:30. He said he saw our ticket come up (meaning at least the appetizer was ready) and that he was on it.We didn't get our food until 6:50 and we were literally seconds away from simply walking out. The appetizer came out 5 minutes before the rest, and it was obviously just taken out of the frier. Far too hot to eat.The food was alright (my ribeye was hard to eat), but by that point the kids were done, I was done, my wife was done. It ruined our entire night. I asked for the check right away, and the manager only took off $20. In any other restaurant, a customer who had been sitting there for over an hour would have had their entire meal comped. When we asked for a box, the waitress went back to the kitchen, so I just got one from the waiter's station myself. We didn't get out of there until 7:20.We will not be going back. Ever.

Went there and they were not busy we waited twenty minutes after being seated for menu then another thirty for our drink order to be taken. When we finally ordered almost an hour after being seated they come to the table to say they had no baked potatoes and could we place another order. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible we will never go back here. Applebees on Portage worst restuarant ever.
Food and service was wonderful, great menus choices. They had a friendly and clean atmosphere. We will be back
We went in to Applebee's husband 2 children and myself wasn't even there 10 minutes silverware was filthy we asked for new silverware waitress brought us new silverware back to our table and it was filthy as well we walked out after explaining sorry we were not gonna stay because we will not put that in our mouths not inpressed at all will not go back
Worst service ever!!! Brought wrong drink, forgot to ever bring the cocktail I ordered. Salad ans bread only 2 minutes before entrée. Had to get his attention repeatedly for service.
Worst meal I've had in a long time. Waited at least a half hour between our appetizers/salads and our entrees. People who came in after us got their food before we did. The babyback ribs were the toughest I've ever had. I gave the plate back to our waitress and she was kind enough to only charge me for my fries... of which I ate two.If anyone from the bar reads this.... when you don't have ribs that are ready to serve, just tell us. We can order something else. Also, when you're making homemade fries (and I really hope they were homemade otherwise you royally screwed them up) it's best to soak the potato sticks for a minimum of two hours (three or more won't hurt) in cold water. This helps remove the starch from the outer surface and that means you won't have a floppy pile of greazy potatoes. Instead, you'll have real french fries : )Lastly, when you serve a customer a plate of food that they give back to the waitress and say they want nothing to do with, don't act like you're doing them a favor by "only" charging them for the fries they didn't eat either. That would have been the difference between me saying, "well, the cook had a bad night" and "well, I'm never going back there again".
Unremorseful owner looks evil as he smiles smugly when interviewed about the animal cruelty of Foie Gras and promises to give it away as free samples every time someone gives a one star review: ducks/geese are force fed with pipes/pipe-like devices two to three times daily, pumping up to 2.2 pounds of grain and fat into their stomachs, or geese three times a day, up to 4 pounds daily, for 12-21 days. The force-feeding causes the birds’ livers to swell to up to 10 times their normal size.
What a wonderful place ,.the food is excellent!
We have always heard good things about the Oaken Bucket but never made it there. We are sorry now that we had not tried it sooner. I had hot wings and fries. my husband had a hamburger. Both were hot and good. Before tip is was less than $20. we will be back.
