I've been a Costco member since I was like 5 years old. This is the standard Costco, except smack dab in the middle of a somewhat major metropolis. Therefore, it gets CRAZY busy. More on that later. Highlights (really, of any Costco) - a good, affordable, photo processing center, optometry shop, and hot food counter (pizza, hot dogs etc). Be smart and pay for your hot food order at the regular cashier, then pick it up on your way out at a separate window, skipping the mile long line. Things I love about Costco (purchasing) - seasonal fruit deals, the mailer coupon booklet, the whole roasted chicken for $5.99, cheap eggs, milk, bread (basics), large meat packages (buy a big piece and trim your own steaks!!!), good wine & cheese selection, great place to make a visit to when you are just moving into a new and empty apartment. The bad: Mile long lines on weekends and nights, things on sale sell out quickly, the people who think the sample tables are a free food buffet (same rude people leave their carts in the middle of the aisle while they eat their 30th piece of free whatever), Costco for putting these sample tables all over, instead of ONE spot in the damn store, and I think they stopped selling coke products. This may be resolved, it was some pricing fight with Coca-Cola. And on a side note, we get delivery from Costco every week at my office. When I shop at the store, I get great fruit deals that are FRESH! The stuff they deliver to our office looks like the throwaways, bruised, spotted bananas, rotten oranges, dying apples. Its horrible. I honestly think they take what wont sell in the store and send it to their business delivery customers. We complain all the time but it stays the same.

I recently have been diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue, complete with the classic symptoms of unexplained weight gain (I work out 5 times a week); emotional imbalances, sleep deprivation, etc. After having a saliva test to measure my hormone levels and obtain results of where my cortisol levels, estrogen, progestin, etc. were I was introduced to an amazing Progesterone cream called Pro-Gest by Emerita (a totally natural progesterone cream, that has been clinically-tested and paraben free) for menopause/perimenopause support. Well, after the first application right before going to bed, I am thrilled to report that I had my first good night of sleep in months! In fact, the next day, I was completely energetic and felt like myself again. What an amazing treatment! Not only that, it feels like the water weight is diminishing considerably. I also appreciated the fact that the pharmacist, Peter Koshland was readily available to answer my questions. He totally made me feel at ease. It's also refreshing to know that Koshland Pharmacy can deliver the same day to SF or ship anywhere. Thank you Koshland Pharm: Custom Compounding Pharmacy. I am one happy customer and will be sure to tell everyone I know about your incredible customer service, knowledge and accessability. Sincerely, Lisa
I went down to safeway just the other day to pick up some milk and some snack. I could not find a certain cheese so I simply asked for the manager Claire Costigan. I asked her if they are out or just simply not carry it anymore. She did not even try to look for it! Instead she said "oh that is just awful and I am very sorry! Across the street is Trader Joe's and maybe they carry it!" I was like WOW what kind of service is this manager providing? Managers should be setting the examples for their employees and not brush off there bad day on customers! I am wondering if Claire Costigan the manager acts like this with all of her customers and are her employees taught to provide bad service also? Will I shop at safeway again? That depends on the store manager if he is willing to re-train his management team on how to provide good customer service!
A Walgreens with door security. It speaks volumns about the local clientel, and on any given day there are 2-3 vagrants begging for change 3 feet from the entrance in all directions. On a rare sunny day in SF that number goes to 4. Inside, its tiny, cramped, but has the traditional Wally's fair and a smart, friendly staff that usually manages to smile while the messy denizens of the too close tenderloin try and steal from them. My only complaint? You Always, ALWAYS, have to pay attention while being rung up. The prices in the ads routinely do not ring properly, and the cashiers make no attempt to give you a sale or coupon price unless you point each out individually. Even then its hard, as they rarely face the price screen towards the customer. Stay alert at the cashwrap and you will be fine. The Pharmacy staff at this location is awesome.
A split second after walking in, and it even surprised me to be perfectly frank, I was asked "Can I help you, ma'am?" A woman behind the counter asked this and I was so surprised of the great customer service. I'm used to having to look for personnel and at this location, I received great service. I highly recommend this store at the front counters at least. At the Pharmacy department, it's a completely different story. I had to wait a full 2 weeks before they could refill my prescription. The reason is because of problems with my insurance carrier, but they could have conveyed this to me in advance before I ran out of medication waiting for the store.
Costco is a good place to find bargains. Sometimes they have super cheap stuff. It's hit or miss since products are inconsistant. This one gets pretty crowded as it's the only Costco in SF. Food Court is pretty cheap.
I here by inquire for an employment as a pharmacies and i promise to be loyal, honest and faithful.i will be the most happinest person if am granted the opportuinity to take my place with you.thanks.expecting a reply
Do not patronize this store unless you just need to pick up 1 or 2 items. Advertised items are never in stock. The fried and baked chicken from the Deli is always dry. Produce items are usually not fresh.
I called the number and bothered a lady who was wondering why everyone was calling her house thinking it was safeway. The number is actually (415)387-4664. I hope that helps. . .
Store is a lot larger than most and you can find most advertised items. Friendly staff too. If items in the weekly sale ad aren't in stock, staff is willing to issue rainchecks.
