I actually look forward to staying here at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero when I travel to SF on business, so much that I have stayed here on vacation as well. I like everything about this place - service, food, location, room size and decoration, cleanliness, amenities available in the room (coffee, hair dryer, etc.), working temperature control, beautiful views on any side of the hotel, walking distance to many fantastic SF spots. I lik stepping out of the hotel and seeing a cable car right in front of me. I stay here 3 or 4 times a year, have been for many years. I miss the Christmas train set up in the lobby of past years, condolences on the passing of the employee who used to organize that. However they still do a fabulous holiday decorating job in the cool atrium lobby during November and December. Note that this is not a luxury hotel but it is not a budet hotel, either! I am here now, just finished a fabulous asparagus and crab omelette with coffee and toast, in my room for $48. I have been in many hotels in many cities, but the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero is the only one I don't really have complaints about and actually look forward to. Good job, Hyatt!

I would definitely stay here again. Normally we stay at one of the hotels down by Pier 39, but this time we wanted something different (i.e. nicer but less expensive) & chose Kabuki based on a recommendation from a friend. 1) Room rate was awesome -- $89 a night for a King Standard. 2) Easy & cheap on-site parking. DON'T use their Valet, use the public parking that is right below the hotel & has an elevator up to the hotel lobby. 3) Room furniture was modern, though the writing desk was placed at the foot of the bed, so when sitting there to use the computer (Free wi-fi!) the other person couldn't get from one side of the room to the other. 4) Sink/Vanity area of the bathroom 5 Stars.....shower was WEIRD, but perhaps that is the style in Japan? It lacked a curtain & the door to the shower room was glass. Also, we felt that had it been 2 friends or a family with older kids staying the bathroom would have been uncomfortable as there would be no privacy for the shower if someone wanted to use the sink area. Sliding Bamboo doors were cool though! Overall I would definitely stay here again!
Winsor Hotel was great for me as a last minute booking. The private room was clean and actually bigger in person. It comes with a TV (late 90s), sink (with mirror), a small desk.....and closet space. The bed (i did not have wallpadding) is big enough for two adults and it was comfortable. I did not have a outlet near me....the one close to me was by the tv....across the room but they provide extension cables. The hotel is near the powell BART stop...from the airport its about 9$ one way. There is a mall and a main shopping street near by. there are asian food places on the block open late and a few bars and clubs. Late night on the block there are bums hanging around on the side that the hotel is located and in front of the hotel. There is buzzer to get into the hotel....just on the way a person will need to have extra caution when proceeding. This is great for a person traveling solo...or a couple on a budget. The hotels location is amazing if your in tourist mode.
Me and my colleague stayed at Winsor Hotel for a conference at Moscone Center. It was very easy walking distance to our conference. Winsor Hotel is situated in one the busiest location of san francisco and closer to many important attractions. As I approached the hotel from Market and 6th I was a bit apprehensive due to the crack-house nature of the street. However once I found the (well-secured) front door and entered, I felt a lot better. The Winsor truly is exactly as advertised: a European-style hotel. The rooms are sparsely- furnished and the bathrooms are down the hall. This was not a problem however, as the extremely low rate ($90 a night) more than made up for any possible inconvenience. Walking down the hall in the middle of the night was a small price to pay to save $300 a night in this area. The hotel was safe, and while m y room was a bit warm at first, they staff was very quick to give me a table fan which made it very comfortable.
Castle Inn is a really great value. It's in a great location, safe area, central to everything, and walking distance to most everything in the city, or a very cheap uber or lyft ride. There's free parking, but you don't really need a car. Walgreens is right on the corner, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars right around the corner on Polk Street. There's a coffee maker, microwave and a decent size fridge and freezer in the room. Rooms are a pretty nice size, very comfortable, with lots of counter space. No pets or smoking allowed in any of the rooms, which works well for me, but there's an ash tray by the elevator/stairs, so you often have to walk by smokers on your way to and from your room. And if your room is near the elevator, you get the cigarette smoke coming into your room, and the occasionally late night disturbance of smokers hanging out and talking by the ash tray. I wasn't too happy about that.
I am at the Hyatt Regency now and I have to say, I am impressed. The atrium inside is a brilliant sight, with long strings of grand lights running from the 14th floor down to the lobby. Away from the holidays when the lights come down, they have a fountain that draws the attention. The bar/lounge is in the atrium, in the center of all the action. Comfortable lounge chairs and tables look inviting as you walk through the atrium. Away from the holidays when the lights come down, they have a fountain that draws the attention. Rooms are large with a flat panel TV, ample desk space and a reading area. Bathroom is a little small, but I love that they put tooth paste in my room. The hotel decor, from the lobby to the room is very contemporary. Located in the center of all the action, and ideal for business travelers, I definitely recommend this hotel for your business stay in San Francisco.
This hotel is ideal for business travelers. It is located right by Moscone Center so conference attendees can walk to their keynotes and breakout sessions in 10 minutes. You can even come bac to your room for a quick nap but I can't condone that. I have never done that =) The rooms are comfy and contemporary. Higher floors have nice views of downtown, the bay and the bridge. Westin has some of the most comfy beds you can find in hotels. The lobby is a great place to meet someone and the lounge area is a great place to flirt with that conference attendee. Union Square is a 15 minute brisk walk from the hotel and a lot of restaurants within easy distance, starting with a CPK across the street. Finally, the price is actually quite decent considering the location. In this area, only the W up the street is a better overall hotel.
Overall, we were pretty satisfied with this hotel. Our room faced the bus depot and we could hear the beeping of the buses as they were backing up well into the night and early in the morning. I would definitely ask for a room on the opposite side of that to avoid all the noise. The service was good. We had several problems with our key card until they sent an employee up to investigate and found that we were just not pushing hard enough. What, I didn't know you were supposed to jam the key as hard as you could every time you wanted to go into the room?! That's never happened to me before. The location is great, close to everything!
Had a wonderful stay. Rooms are cute & homey, the staff was super friendly & helpful, and the 5th floor restaurant area is cozy, comfortable & includes a great bourbon selection. It's also in a very convenient, nice area. Side note story - my fiancé left her toothbrush at home & didn't realize it until all of the local drugstores had closed. The staff were out of them, but (and I'm pretty sure they sent someone to a local 24-hour place to do it) got one for her before we went to bed. We didn't ask for this, they just went the extra mile on their own. Big recommend on this hotel.
I've been to this hotel twice in a row and I will not hesitate to come back again in the future. The guest service, specifically of Romelia of Front Desk, is outstanding and exceptional! She's very warm and helpful and knowlegeable about the city. The rooms are spacious and affordable. The location is quiet(unlike if you're at Union Square) and is only 20 mins away from Fisherman's Warf and is in the heart of Japan town. If you want a great location with affordable price and outstanding guest service, Tomo Hotel is the choice!
