Dental Examination
During routine dental exams, which we recommend every six months, we look for signs of decay, check for gum disease, and perform a thorough oral cancer examination.
X-rays
Oral Cancer Screening
Once your teeth have been polished, a full examination is done. During the exam, Dr. Landau will note any decay, chips or crack lines which have developed since the last appointment. The edges of old restorations will be monitored for leakage and Dr. Landau will conduct his own oral cancer screening. This is the best time to discuss any issues or questions you have. When necessary, Dr. Landau will develop a treatment plan specifically designed for your dental needs.

Teeth Cleaning
According to a study, chronic periodontitis has been reported in 47.2% of adults who are above 30 years of age in the US in 2015. Professional teeth cleaning can help mitigate this risk, but if detected early. However, once the pockets between the teeth and gums become too deep, scaling and root planing may be required. If you are experiencing swollen, bleeding or sensitive gums, you may require scaling and root planing to heal them. Mobile teeth, which can be caused by a damaged jawbone due to inflammation, can also indicate the need for scaling or planing.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride will optionally be applied to the teeth to fight the demineralization created by plaque bacteria and help with the remineralization of enamel. It is this demineralization that leads to tooth decay. A professional fluoride treatment can benefit anyone at any age.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Teeth are prepared with an etching solution that makes the surface of the tooth better able to bond with composite resin material. The composite resin is then applied to the tooth and shaped, and a curing light is used to facilitate bonding and hardening. Additional layers of bonding material can be applied and cured until the desired results are achieved.
Veneers
The natural, stain-resistant material of tooth-shaped porcelain veneers lasts for years, can be used as an alternative to orthodontic treatment and can cover chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth.
Crowns
When there is more extensive damage, large old fillings with decay or more severely crooked teeth, a porcelain crown can be utilized to cover and reinforce the structure of the tooth. Porcelain crowns protect the teeth from further damage and decay, and replicate the shape and shade of surrounding teeth. Bridges
Dentures, which for decades had been the primary form of tooth replacement, are no longer an ideal solution. They can slip and cause discomfort because they are not anchored in the mouth, and they do nothing to stimulate a healthy jawbone. It is essential for ongoing oral and overall health that missing teeth be replaced. When you lose a tooth or teeth, your jawbone begins to shrink. Fixed bridges anchored by crowns offer a more stable form of tooth replacement, but these still do not promote a healthy jawbone. Your jawbone needs the roots of your teeth to stay healthy. Dental implants will not only replace your missing teeth, allow you to chew virtually anything that you want but will also maintain the bone where your tooth was lost.
Dental Bonding
An alternative to porcelain veneers, composite bonding is a versatile procedure that can transform the look of damaged or esthetically displeasing smiles.

Root Canal Treatment
Porcelain crowns can be used to cap teeth that have been fractured, broken, treated with a root canal, or damaged by extensive decay covering more than fifty percent of the surface of the tooth. They can also be used to anchor a fixed bridge in place or top off a dental implant to complete smile restoration.
