I brought a sport coat to Sandy's business in order to tailor its sleeves. The business mentioned that they were limited in their abilities to tailor sport coats. However, adjusting the sleeve length of a sport coat would be within their capabilities. After wearing the sport coat for a couple of outings, I felt that it needed additional adjustments in the upper back and neck region. I decided to consult another tailoring business in Sioux Falls due to the fact that Sandy's had already mentioned their skill limitations with sport coats. The owner of the other tailoring business felt that the work performed by Sandy's on my coat's sleeves was simply "wrong." The owner has a particular customer that brings in very expensive sport coats for adjustments. If the owner performed similar work on his sport coats, the customer would be very unhappy with the workmanship of the finished item. The sleeve work performed by Sandy's on my sport coat is permanent. It cannot be undone. Therefore, I am left with a reminder that it is best to consult more than one tailor prior to making adjustments to cherished clothing items.
