WOW! I'm personally terrified of the dentist, but this place is different. The staff are so friendly. Dr. Zaghi was so kind and gentle i feel asleep for the first time at the dental office! For the first time i felt a dentist really does care about me. Painless and quick. Located right off the highway and is across the street from starbucks! I can't recommend this place enough.

Overall
Incompetent Dentist

My family and I recently visited Simi Valley Smiles and were initially quite impressed. The xray and picture portion of our visits went very well. The cleaning for the children was more painful than it has ever been for them in the past. For myself they recommended all sorts of cleanings and treatments that would have cost me well over $1,000 out of pocket. And as it turns out, 2 of the 3 treatments they strongly recommended were not necessary.

My husband's experience was even worse! He had a chipped tooth that had to be fixed. They took the impression and glued on a temporyary veneer. He returned a week later for the permanent and paid the fee of nearly $1,000. When they went to put the permanent on, they noticed that they ordered a color that was whiter than his other teeth and suggested that he have his teeth whitened to match - additional costs, of course. My husband told them he didn't want his teeth whitened so he was to return in another week to have the correct color tooth put on. Meanwhile, they glued the temporary back on. He bit down as directed and it broke! So they had to cause him a lot of pain to literally scrape the glue off and put another one on. Two days later that one fell off too! He went back in and they scraped the tooth again and put another temporary on. He went in again a week later to get the new tooth put on just to be told that it's not the right size!!! So now they are taking another impression to have yet another tooth made. And again, in the meantime they are putting another temporary on so he can wait another week for them to tell him that they are truly incompetent. He has so far lost time from four work days and has been put through so much pain and inconvenience that they should be paying us!

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!! THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR PROCEDURES YOU DON'T NEED AND WILL UNDOUBTEDLY SCREW THEM UP CAUSING YOU PAIN AND ANGER.

Be Careful

My husband and I recently went to this dentist for check-ups. The staff was very nice and the xrays were well-done. Unfortunately, my husband was waiting in the chair for close to 45 minutes prior to the dentist coming in and explaining xrays and all the work that they thought he needed done. They recommended a deep-scale cleaning for him that (with insurance) would end up costing $600. They also recommended replacing his bridge in order to fill one of his cavities (they failed to call us with a quote on this). For me, they wanted to replace an old filling with an onlay (about $500), simply as a "preventive" measure. (I have had that filling for 16 years and not had any problems with it.) Our visit was close to 2 hours, which I felt was way too long, considering that we were their only patients. I felt like I had been robbed at gunpoint when we left. My first thoughts went to the cost, and it made me want to ask them just to take all my teeth out and give me dentures!

I decided to a dentist in Thousand Oaks that my husband has used in the past for a second opinion. The lady in the office pulled my husband's chart and informed me that there is no way he would need the cleaning Simi Valley Smiles recommended, based on his chart and the dentist's note from my husband's last cleaning (Feb. 2008). We discussed a couple other things they had recommended and she offered to schedule both of us for a second opinion consultation. We scheduled everything easily over the phone, and she was very helpful and informative!

I will be picking up my dental records from the last 2 offices I have visited in the past 2 years to take with me for my second opinion consultation.

Be careful with this office. They have not yet been rated by the Better Business Bureau, but one of their main dentists worked in another Simi Valley office (Simi Valley Dental Group), and that office was rated F by the BBB. Same dentist, but different office- I just don't trust it.
