My ac system stopped cooling Sunday afternoon with temps near 90 degrees. I called Hometown Air Monday morning at 8:15am. My information was taken and I was told I should be able to receive service sometime during the day. I requested a call by the tech as he got near me. I do live about 3 miles from their office. At 10:15 the tech called and said he was minutes away. As I went out to the ac unit the tech drove into the driveway. I once did ac work so know the basics and what to be alert to. The tech had me go in to turn the ac on. As I returned, he had already opened the cover to the wiring area. He checked amp draw to the compressor and found none. He immediately suspected the start capacitor, which was bad, and replaced it. The ac functioned as the power was reapplied. He then checked refrigerant pressures and found it correct. My unit was 10 yr old as of this month. So within 2 hr of my call, the tech had arrived and in less than 30 min the ac was repaired. The tech was very friendly and answered all my technical questions. The capacitor seemed very expensive, but is USA mfg and has a 5 yr warranty, free labor on it for 1 year. The service call was the only other charge and was well within local rates. I could not have been more pleased!
