I was scheduled a 1030 appointment with Nationwide Vision in Sierra Vista, Arizona for 7/29/2015. I did the scheduling online and was contacted by a very nice representative who asked me to fill out all the paperwork online prior to coming to expedite the experience. So I did. I printed out 4 forms and filled all of them out the day of my appointment. This was the first time I'd ever had an experience with Nationwide Vision. I wanted to give them a try since they say they have a large selection of frames. When I showed up at Nationwide Vision (around 1024), the receptionist asked if she could help me. I told her I had a 1030 appointment. Her face got red and she raised her voice and said “I cannot see you today. You were supposed to be her at 1000 for paperwork purposes”. I showed her my completed paperwork and told her I was not told I needed to show up 30 minutes early for my appointment. Her body language suggested she did not believe. She then said “I will not fit you in today because you were late for the paperwork”. I said “Thank you very much” and left. First off, I would have been annoyed to have to show up 30 minutes early for an appointment, but would have done so if I had been told too. Second off, I can't think of a time I was treated so badly by a receptionist at a medical center. She seemed really upset when I got there “late”, then did not seem to believe me that I was never told to show up 30 minutes early, then happy to tell me for the second time that she would not see me because I was late. I will never give Nationwide Vision another shot at having me as a customer. I couldn't tell you about the doctor experience, or the selection of frames, or the care in ensuring everything fits properly as I never got that far.
This review is for Dr. Lincoln Daynes of Daynes Optical. I have known Dr. Lincoln Daynes and his staff for some years. He has always give me and my family members the best professional eye care possible. The equipment in his location is up to date and his staff is very professional. He treats everyone I know with the utmost care. His computerized systems show the patient exactly what is going on with their eyes. Plus the lab on site can make the lenses in about an hour. I can not see well without my tri-focal lenses and Dr. Lincoln Daynes and his staff have made my trip to their office a very pleasant experience. Dr. Daynes is a top flight Doctor for eye glass wear.
Unless you have a lot of money to blow, avoid this place like the plague. The staff is incompetent, they bill you incorrectly, and then come after you for more money after the fact. They have a grievance officer who doesn't even respond to your letters.
***TERRIBLE PLACE! GO HERE AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!!***Service is awful. Staff are overall rude and appear incompetent when it comes to explaining their procedures and policies. They don't return phone calls and it's always 'someone else that's dealing with it'.I was referred to this company by another optometrist after having a standard eye exam for glasses (which was covered by my eye insurance), as the pressure in my eyes was reading high. Took along my referral for them to do a medical glaucoma screening. Had the test, and doctor examined my eyes with a light. I have high vision insurance, and was only required to pay about $10 copay on the day. I've since received a bill from them for $160 for an 'eye exam'. After disputing this with them for four months, back and forth - It's their fault, then it's my fault - receiving repeated invoices, and eventually just being told that the bill stands, and will have to be paid, I have finally given in and paid the bill. I did NOT receive and eye exam at this company. One member of staff has since said that the eye exam is a mandatory procedure when a new patient comes to their company. However I DID NOT receive an eye exam - I was referred to them after an eye exam, and they knew that - Which is why I was only screened for glaucoma. The additional bill for an eye exam is completely fabricated and not covered by my insurance, as they only cover 1 eye exam a year. I think they are trying to pull something!RIDICULOUS and UNSCRUPULOUS! I will never have anything to do with this company ever again, and if it weren't for their complete lack of professional communication and a fear of my credit being affected by an unpaid bill, I would have told them to go stuff it. But their stance is that the bill is owed, and must be paid. NICE!Awful company, and from reading other negative reviews on here, I don't think they'll be around for much longer in a small town like this!
When my daughter received her glasses, the woman at the counter handed my daughter her glasses and walked away. Confused and floored, I followed the woman and asked her if the glasses are not fitted to the person's face so that one can properly SEE with them? Her response was, "No. They fit." and continued to walk away! I told her I was not leaving until someone fit the glasses onto my 9 year-old daughter's face. With a huff and an attitude appropriate for a street gang, not a so-called professional establishment, she took the glasses, put them on my daughter's face and said, "They fit!" My daughter said, "No. They do not fit. They are bending my ears forward and it hurts." They glasses obviously did not fit my daughter’s face; the rims were too large and the part of the frame that sits on the side of the face and behind the ears was too short and did not reach my daughter’s ears. I gave the heavy set, Caucasian, unprofessional woman with the long, straight, brown pony tail my attitude and told her, "Fix it or return my money NOW." They heavy set, long, brown haired woman twisted and turned the glasses, gave them to my daughter and walked away. I asked my daughter to go outside, I walked over to the animal who described herself as an employee, whispered into her ear and left. Do NOT bring your children here to be mistreated! One star because there is nothing lower that is available to choose from.
The place looks very professional on the inside, but don't let that fool you. My apt was at 230, I went in at 2 to fill out the paperwork, and wasn't seen until 3. I paid $260 for a new pair of frames (which were only $30 over my insurance coverage), lenses, and new lenses for my sunglasses. AND they let me use tricare for my sunglasses lenses. My insurance information had to be manually entered because they switched systems and hadn't added my insurance carrier yet, and then had to hand calculate all the totals and percentages of discounts. I ended up standing at the front desk for over an hour. My glasses came in within a couple days, and didn't have the anti glare coating, so I sent them back to have it put on. That cost me and extra $100! I was told that my sunglasses would come in within 10 business days, and I didn't get them for 16. They don't fit my face the same, which is understandable because they put new lenses in, but the woman wouldn't even attempt to bend them for me because she didn't want to break them. They also feel like the wrong prescription. They're making me dizzy and queasy. I've been wearing glasses since I was in 5th grade and I've never had a problem with adjusting to new lenses. I paid over $350 to them and I really wish I would have gone somewhere else. I do not recommend this place to anyone, whatsoever. UPDATE--As if all the scrap I dealt with wasn't enough, I took the sunglasses back, because they felt like the wrong prescription and damn lenses wouldn't stay in.... a different Dr checked my eyes again and told me that the other Dr got my prescription wrong.... so they had to send the sunglasses back, and since my glasses still weren't in, they would have to wait for those to come in so they can just send them back to get those lenses fixed as well..... I moved to CA and they said that they would mail them to me when they came in. I finally called them after 2 weeks, and they said that my sunglasses came in, and my glasses came in with only ONE lense having the anti glare coating! So they sent them back.... I have to wait a few days to speak with the manager, but I am going to demand a full refund. I HATE this place!
I have nothing good to say about my experience with this place. I would not recommend this place to my friends. While the consultation with the doctor was good, the reception and its staff have zero customer service. I was incorrectly billed and they are unwilling to make amends, leaving me to pay for their mistakes. Horrible, HORRIBLE... I wish I had seen the other review about this place. After venting to my co-workers, its been confirmed that this practice is not highly recommended.
If I could give these people a half star or less if I could. They are Fu**ing crooks! My wife and I went there to get the normal exam and a pair of simple glasses each. First they told us that we did not have insurance and that we would have to pay cash this of course is after I called and the only reason we decided to go to them is because they were the only local eye doctor our insurance company covered. Of course the amount required was not disclosed until we were at the register. That's not even the best part, later we received an additional bill in the mail stating that we owed more. The companies reasoning was that the insurance company denied our claim, interesting since we didn't have insurance to begin with according to them. So at this point we had shelled out nearly $800. My wife and I requested expedited shipping because she would be leaving to Afghanistan a short time later. The answer we receive was "sure no problem, this isn't much of a prescription so it should be by the end of the day" not only did they take forever, nearly two weeks, but they called during my vacation, and I was told that they would get them (the glasses) to me if we paid the "extra cost" for shipping. The service was par at best. My wife was very angry with the lack of detail during the exam. As if that wasn't bad enough the company charged us for something "medical" as a way to get insurance companies to pay more. So all-in-all the horrible visit ended up costing nearly $1000.00 after all was said and done. There is no way in hell I would pay that much for an eye exam and two pair of plain jane glasses. This place would be the last place I would ever recommend to anyone. This includes my worst enemy. Although I would highly recommend Nation Wide Vision. They aren't horrible crooks, much better all around!
