Stay Away....

Ever hear the saying ""Lipstick on a Pig?"" It refers to trying to make something that's awful OK with a little makeup.
This gym is terrible....if you want to work out in something that feels like a bad 70's movie this is it. Old, no really old, equipment, frayed ropes, rust, dirty....the barbells alone look like Arnold used them when he was just a bodybuilder!

One more thing: I asked some people who are actual members what they thought: Nothing but complaints how the owners are aloof, arrogant and unresponsive. Stay away.....

very decent

While old and lacking polish around the edges, the equipment is maintained well and they have EVERYTHING you could possibly need for a good workout. Two free weight stations for every muscle group, machines galore, and a whole floor dedicated to cardio I don't know why carpet color would be detrimental for a workout, but I will say that for the price you're not getting a resort, just a good gym. The manager was super friendly and even said that while the island club is closed, members are free to use the club on mainland (a resort) for no extra charge. Bonus.

Beyond Awful

This place was put in place 25+ years ago and has never been maintained at all.

The men's room is worse than a horror movie. There are so many leaks when it rained I thought the roof was going to cave in. Carpets are so dirty you can't tell what color they were originally. Broken machines are EVERYWHERE.

Believe me it is worse than my description.

PERFECT

Hey ""Gymster"" are you one of those ""girls"" that also wears make-up and jewelry to the gym? For the price and location it is all you need to get a great workout! The customer service at the front desk is beyond helpful and pleasant which is more than I can say for a lot of other gyms. My family stayed on LBI for the month of July and it had everything you needed to get a great workout! It's a gym not a ""club""!

Nicely priced week membership

After I read the other review I went and got a great workout. It's not the prettiest, cleanest gym but it has everything you need for a workout while on vacation. It's got a good deal for weekly membership and friendly service.
Also, it has a good mix of new and old equipment. I found a couple of my favorite ab machines there. It has plenty of free weights, machines, and cardio.
Best of all,its close (on the island) so you can in a quick workout, feel good about yourself, and then go back and relax at the beach. (and get fat at some restaurant)

Dirty and Old

Its hard to imagine how this place stays in business except that it is the only game in this tourist beach town. The facility is in a word, filthy. I didn't want to touch anything in the place at least not with my bare hands. The ceiling was leaking even though it was sunny outside and pieces of the ceiling were failing to the floor. The equipment was old and much of it was in need of repair or replacement. It was so hot inside that I was melting and could not finish my cardio workout. I doubt the air conditioning was turned on even though it was well over 80 degrees and humid outside. I saw ants crawling about and two of the four bathrooms are not working.
In response to ""shaye"" I am not one ""those ""girls"" that also wears make-up and jewelry to the gym?"" I just want a clean gym where you don't have to worry about picking up something funky just because you touched a peace of equipment. Also, I would not know anyhting about the women's locker room since as I was not allowed to use it. But I can say that you could not pay me enough to shower in the MENS locker room.
