Body and Soul is my number one pick of tattoo studios in Sherman Oaks. As compared to the high end shops like True Tattoo or Shamrock, I think you get an equally good tattoo here for a better value. But Body and Soul is not a cheap shop. Tattoos aren't cheap and you do have to pay more for better work. You really get what you pay for in this industry. I had Jeremy do a koi fish that turned out beautiful and healed perfectly. He has a light hand so the pain was minimal. I would also recommend Jayman if you want great Traditional work. They are nice guys but of course they have a little attitude, they are tattoo artists! It comes with the territory.

DO NOT GO TO BODY & SOULD TATTOO!!!
I was referred to this ""tattoo studio"" by a friend who swore they were the ""best"". WRONG! Not only did I have to wait until the chick at the counter was off her cell phone w/her friend, but when I FINALLY was approached, they seemed like they were doing ME a favor by possibly doing my tat! I tried to explain what I wanted and the ""tattoo artist"" kept trying to convince me to do something else on the wall because he didnt have time to do what I wanted! I finally told him that this was the design I wanted and he was like ""whatever"".
He was really rude! He then told me that he couldnt do it then, after telling me he had SOME time, and I had to make an appt. I made one for the following wk and they called me 10 mins before on the same day of my appt to cancel. I was already on my way! So then, I rescheduled and he cancelled again! Now, I cannot get a hold of him, he is never there when I go (probably hides in the back like a loser that he is), and I am out of my money and time!
I luckily went to another place that is CLEANER, FRIENDLIER, and PROFESSIONAL. For all I care, they can keep my money and buy a new attitude and some business sense.

My first tattoo experience turned out to be a bad one thanks to this shop. The design was a fairly simple phoenix with interior shading that was a magenta-red-orange-yellow gradual fade. The actual tattoo I received was filled-in with orange and yellow stripes with little fading that makes it look cheap (which it wasn?t) and rushed (which it was because he wanted to watch the OC). It is partly my fault for trusting the artist to give me a tattoo that actually looked like the design. The artist also forgot a part of the design (I had to remind him about it after the black portion was finished). And lastly, my skin developed a reaction to the yellow pigment and when I showed the artist he offered me zero advice or assistance other than ?maybe you should see a doctor.? I am now looking for another artist to help me fix the tattoo.
