Couldn't even get an appointment. I tried calling to book an appointment for my husband at 4:50 p.m. and after being put on hold for a minute or two, got answered by someone and promptly hung up on. Called back a second time, got answered quicker, and again got hung up on. Third time I called, the phone rang, obviously picked up, and was immediately cut off yet again. I had perfect cell reception, so I'm guessing someone knew it was close to quitting time and didn't feel like being tied up on the phone. Even if this had been a case of 'technical difficulties', it wouldn't be professional in any capacity, and was a waste of my time.

Had lots of repeated problems with getting my prescriptions filled at this office. Also, I went in with concerns of diabetes but they would not do blood work. I went to a specialist in Charlotte who believed I had diabetes and ordered a test. Guess what? I HAVE DIABETES!!! The doctor in Charlotte saved my life.

Poor Customer Service. We love Dr. Phelps and up until this point it has been the only reason we've stayed with SFP. However we've had it with this office. Our pharmacy sent SFP a per-authorization for a prescription 2 weeks ago. We thought that would be enough time because SFP is very slow. We called Wal-greens the 4th time today and SFP had still not done their part. We spoke to someone yesterday at SFP and voiced our concern, they never called back. We called today and spoke with the office manager, PATTY, she said she would "straighten it out" and we'd get a call back today, well we never did. *** Please note that even if you ask to speak to the office manager, you may get someone else. We asked for the office manager yesterday and when we spoke to the office manager, Patty today she said we actually spoke to another employee, not her!!! Pretty Sneaky, huh? Two years ago my husband made a sick appointment w Dr. Phelps for the sole reason that her office would not call to set up a referral for a specialist she wanted him to see. He was sick and tired of calling and begging them to set up the appointment. So he made a sick appointment. Dr. Phelps was so apologetic and angry that the person who handled the referrals was fired. Also 3 business days have passed since we left a message for for Dr. Phelps nurse to call us back about some problems we are experiencing with injections. STILL no call !!!! Shelby Family Practice please HIRE more help! Overall Dr. Phelps is great but she needs to get out of this crappy office!!!! Pronto!

My mother has been to this office many times and has always been treated well. They have been very pleasant and helpful.

I do not usually complain, however, I went to Shelby Family Practice two days ago

and had a horrible experience. About a week ago I was exposed to raw chicken and I ingested a small piece. I figured I would be fine since I only ate a small piece. However, I started getting sick 4 days later. I was vomiting and had diarrhea. I went to Shelby family practice and saw a female nurse practitioner. She was very rude and made me feel stupid for even thinking it could be salmonella or e coli. She said I had a stomach virus because I work at a daycare and to go home and it'll be gone in the morning. This was on Friday. It is now Sunday and I am still dealing with the symptoms and I now have a fever. It's low grade but I can't help feeling like she was unsympathetic and unprofessional to not take any precautionary measures like bloodwork in case it is in fact bacteria from the chicken. Not to mention I paid $25 to see someone who isn't even a doctor. And now I'll have to pay it again to see someone tomorrow morning, if I don't end up in the emergency room before then. I have seen others from Shelby family practice before, though never an actual doctor, and it's almost as if they're all just immune to the empathy they might have once felt for their patients. Bottom line: if there is any other option, try to avoid this place. Hope this helps someone else!
