Great concept

Ok, my only bone to pick is that I wish it was open for dinner! Besides that, I am impressed. Fresh, homemade, cheap and quick. I had the massaman chicken curry. I left very full. The spice level was perfect for me, but for those who want more, you can add it. I also had to try the dessert. Yum, again. On Saturdays they have papaya salad which I would love to try!

Also, they sell their curry seasoning, so if you want to get stuff from Ugymaya and pick that up, you'd be in for a good home cooked meal.

Cheap (and tasty!) Thai Dishes

Whenever I forget my lunch, I walk over here from Pioneer Square to get some good $5 pad thai.

Thai Curry Simple is great because they have $5+tax lunch specials (I believe 11-3pm M-F) for a range of dishes (pad thai and various curries). The portions are smaller than other Thai restaurants, but even my menfolk friends who eat more say it's the perfect amount for lunch without feeling uncomfortably full the rest of the afternoon.

As for me I am small and it doesn't take a lot to feed me, I actually spread their pad thai out over two days ($2.50/lunch!). It's a great deal.

As for the food, I have had their pad thai and chicken satay. The pad thai is decent, not the best. A little on the sweet side for me, but definitely satisfying for the price. The satay was a little too salty, but I might order it again. Next time I'll try one of the curries.

The service is excellent, the same man (the owner I believe) operates the front counter and the same older woman delivers the food to you. They're both very kind and friendly. They always make sure their are no mistakes and that you are satisfied with your meal.

The restaurant also sells random products (like the little wooden houses they have hanging from the ceiling) and food items like dried kiwis, coconut milk, Thai candy, their homemade hot sauce, and pad thai and curry sauces they make themselves.

It's a cute joint, perfect for lunch. I do believe they serve dinner on weekends, but I recommend it for lunch. Try to go between 11-12, the 12-2pm hours are the busiest with a line going out the door. There isn't much seating either, so I usually get it to go (they have nice to go containers, no foam!)
