Established in 1932, Seattle s Union Gospel Mission is a private, faith-based organization that offers various community services. Headquartered in Seattle, the organization offers various programs for youth, children, men and women, such as shelter, emergency, and long-term and extended care services. It additionally offers search and rescue vans, senior services, recovery programs, transitional housing, educational and career opportunities, prison ministries, and legal and dental services. Its emergency services include providing meals, overnight shelter, showers, personal hygiene items, clothes, and Bible study and chapel services. Its Buenas Nuevas is a program for Hispanic men that provide various religious and counseling services. Its recovery programs include various types of rehabilitation services, drug and alcohol education, special retreats and recreational activities, biblical instruction, relationship counseling, and work and group therapy. It also provides life skills training and relapse prevention classes.
