Founded in 1939, the Seattle Housing Authority is a public corporation that provides affordable housing facilities to more than 25,000 people. It deals in townhomes, apartment buildings and high-rise towers. The authority offers tenant-based programs that include applicant screenings. The Seattle Housing Authority also runs the Housing Choice Voucher Program, which includes options for eligible participants to rent privately owned units.
