Been going to this place for YEARS the only place that can cut hair worth a damn. Nicole is the one who cuts my hair and she is HIGHLY skilled!
Also all the girls who work there are cute. The owner is some times there and she is cool and her dog is totally sweet OMG!
AS for taking my dead bodies there that is an inside joke for the people who work there.
I love you guys!

My kids and I have had Nikki P as our stylist/colorist here for 4 years, now! We will not consider having anyone else touch our hair...Nikki is totally talented. An artist. She listens, makes recommendations, and we ALWAYS leave amazed and happy.
Everyone at the salon is kind, helpful, and very accommodating. Especially Violet, the receptionist.
My son is now 16, and drives himself to have Nikki cut his hair. He tried other stylists closer to our home, but will no longer take that chance. My little girl is now 11. Nikki has cut and colored her hair in many amazing and beautiful ways appropriate for a young girl living in the 'burbs'. Tonight, she added auburn highlights to my daughters' dark brown hair, and it is so beautiful! We can't stop raving (as usual)!
As for me: middle aged suburban mom with foiled blond highlights and a perfect cut. All for a fraction of the price I'd have to pay in Mercer Island (where we live). Nikki is a gem. She is ALWAYS spot-on in creating styles and colors that I have had to pay HUNDREDS more for in my neighborhood.
Nikki, Nikki, Nikki. I want to adopt this amazing girl.

I've been looking for a new stylist for months and happened in on the suggestion of a friend. Kelly saw me right away, worked with the style I was going for and offered ideas for products. I usually don't like it when stylists discuss products with me cause it totally feels like they are trying to upsale me. But Kelly was professional and offered ideas based on what I needed. I came out looking great and have decided to call Scream my new home. Prices are reasonable and the peeps are fun.
I've been going to scream for 3 years now. The whole time, i've gotten my hairs did by the manager and she has always, and still does, an awesome job!! She's always been eager to offer suggestions, and get suggestions from the other rad girls (and one cute cute boy) that work their. She is experienced, qualified, and damn good at what she does!! She stuck to her guns, when i went a good 4 months trying to talk her into transforming my 13 years of colored black hair into platinum hair. She knew that it wouldn't work with out frying my hair to bits.
This place is an awesome salon. Are the people are amazing, and it's just a fun place to go. These girls (and the cute cute boy) are all amazing workers. I've spent many an hour under the dryer watching them work their magic!
I've gone from Black, to PInk, To Black and Blue, to natural fall colors to black with light pink, and FINALLY to platinum. And i'll start all over again, someday. And scream, will always be the place i go!

I generally hate getting my haircut. I never know what to do. I just know that I want it to look good when I'm done. When I went in there for the first time with my friend, Aimee cut my hair. All I told her was that I was tired of my standard buzz and was wanting a bit of length and for it to look good. It came out looking fantastic and she even took the extra time to show me how to make it look good on my own at home. Plus, she's funny, cool and great to talk to.
Oh, and my friend got her very long hair cut and colored and it came out looking more fantastic than it ever has before!

I've been going to scream for 5 years - they did some of the first color I ever had... naturally my hair is black and they have gotten it all the way to platinum blond, a bunch of different great shades of red, black w/ purple and orange highlights, and now back to my natural color - they have helped me grow out my hair, and they have cut it short again
The girls are always fun and the atmosphere is relaxed
I am moving to TX and am sad I won't be able to go here any more - really very distressed that I have to find somewhere new =(
Nikki is awesome and I hear Meggie is coming back (she was my super hair diva before she left scream), and amy, the manager is great
if you want natural color and cut or something crazy and unique they can and will do it for you - if you need guidance on your style or you know just what you want, they are there for you!!!
I love this shop and these girls!!!!!!!!!!

this is an update to fry head. in the months since amy at scream put 40 volume peroxide on the ends of my hair which had already been color treated, then putt me under the dryer, essentially melting the hairshaft, and shocking my hair follicle causing hair loss, i continue to lose hair daily. i had to get 8 inches cut from my hair, and must heat style the ends to tame down the frizz.
this has affected my work. imagine auditioning for a classical role with a short modern hairdo. imagine getting under bright stage lights when overhead light shows how bald my scalp is. i had told amy that i was excited about getting back to work (down 18 months with a back injury) and it was then she had to destroy my hair.
scream continues to deny there was any damage at all, though i have seen several staylists for consultation, including some just feet away from scream. the overwhelming response: WHO did this to your hair?!
i answer honestly: amy at scream.
i would have been satisfied (not happy, the damage is done) had amy been honest, owned up to what she did, and shown a little sympathy to a client who regularly patronised her for a couple of years as did my husband (who also got damage that day). i dont feel it was done on purpose, but what is unnacceptable was how she and her boss behaved after the damage was done. she held my breaking, dull frizzy hair in her hands, and denied there was any damage.
i am getting baby hairs growing over my scalp, though my hair is pitifully thin an getting thinner, at least amy didnt damage my follicle to the point i cant grow new hair, i just have to lose all the hair i already have first.
i have 3 years to file a suit. considering the hair treatments, additional cutting and styling, products, styling equipment and the hours i need to spend making my hair look normal, i will ask for damages as well as suffering.
again, any didnt set out to destroy my hair, but once she did, she behaved awful. as did scream.

I agree with the 7/30 positive review of this place. I have been going to Amy for 3 years on the recommendation of two friends. She is great! She always listens to concerns and comes up with great ideas. My color always is fun and my cuts are great. The people there are funky and interesting. If you want an experience like you would find at a mall salon, this is not for you, but if you are looking for people with interesting ideas for your hair and fun conversation, this is it!
My job means I need to be more ""professional-looking"" than I would sometimes desire, but they give me ways to have fun with that!

I had been seeing Aimee for over a year. She had done a good job. Until I went in last time. I had color, highlights put in (at her recommendation) and when I got home, my hair was frizzy, dull, breaking off, and unmanageable.
I tried product, conditioning etc. nothing worked, I called the salon. No one told Aimee, several days passed until we spoke. She didn?t know what happened. I went in, (a 60 mile trip one way). She had to order a product that was going to 'fix' my hair. Another trip. It didn?t help. She said the lids were switched on the peroxide, burning my hair. what should have been 10 volume was much higher.
I called again, still having problems, she tried to convince me there wasn?t damage, and she didn?t feel my hair was as damaged as I did (two weeks of broken hair, unmanageable frizz) and I shouldn?t feel bad cus my hair wasnt as damaged as hers. she gave me an almost empty tube of reconstructor and some treatments, which she made sure to mention ( 'I GAVE you') as though my taking 3 trips to Seattle, a tank of gas, and 15 bucks on parking, and her failing to fix her own mess is a favor.
I went to 4 different stylists. Without saying why asked their opinion. All three spoke to the damage done, the sloppy cut, and the major frizz.
I find it ironic that out of my friends, my husband, and 4 professionals, all notice my fried hair, and Aimee, who made it that way keeps repeating 'your hair isn?t that damaged' as though I just like having this drama.
*update* my hair keeps breaking. Aimee?s boss said a refund was coming. I called after a week, left messages, had to catch her to ask AGAIN for refund. Refund sent. They kept the tip. Nothing for gas or parking. No apology.
Contrary to another posters 'speculation' I did not blow-dry my hair into falling out. READ: the peroxide was misused, Aimee said so herself.
after 6 weeks, lost so much hair you can see scalp clearly. will be seeing a hair loss specialist, and retaining a lawyer.

nothing ticks me off more than people with an axe to grind that sign up for an account on citysearch, only to slander a local business or person that is more undeserving of it than Amy at Scream.
A perfect example of this is ""fried hair"" above. I think it's pretty obvious that the comment from ""fried-hair"" has an axe to grind (from her name). I normally don't post in Citysearch (or much of anywhere else) but wanted to share my experience I had here. Of course there are many salons in town, including a few knockoff ""wannabe"" salons but nothing comes close to the experience I had here. Admittedly, I am not an easy customer. I expect a lot from my stylist and came here on a recommendation of a friend. I have been a customer here ever since I sat in Amy's chair several years ago. Although some of the other stylists can be a bit loud and obnoxious at times, the place is fun and reasonably priced. I have to cheat on a few of my stylist friends in order to come here (shhh!! ; ) I have been to MANY salons and have paid 4 times the amount of money I spend at scream - and still haven't recieved the amount of perfection and professionalism I get at scream EVERY time from Amy.
hey ""fried hair"". Amy has applied natural dye in my hair dozens of times. What part of natural do you not understand? It has NO PEROXIDE in it. It sounds to me like you have to drive ""60 miles"" to get a haircut becuase you probably have already ""fried"" all the other salons in your area. Why don't you get a life!
