Service and Quality

Joe's Mart has the reputation of being one of the cleanest and well-stocked convenience stores downtown. Their prices are reasonable and their service is always prompt and fast. The people working there are friendly. I've only had trouble sometimes trying to communicate with the older couple who work in the mornings. It can get pretty crazy at night when there are a lot of people in line; the clerks can be bossy at times. Overall though, this is one of my favorite places to go. I highly recommend it.

Joe Not So Smart Mart

This is an urban market run by an immigrant family. The Mom and Pop of the store do not speak or understand English very well or at all. The Pop also doesn't seem to comprehend that you do not scream at the customers who are having trouble extracting beverages from their inaccessible, tightly packed cooler with items up high. Instead of asking me if I needed help, he ran out from the back yelling something in Chinese scolding me like I was a 15 year old delinquent. Mom came out and I couldn't understand a word she said. I apologized and told her I was having trouble. Pop would not stop yelling. I told them they should be nice to the customer and that they were loosing my business. Mom seemed to understand that.
