Went here since it got lot a good reviews. I love a good pho on a cool,chilly day. What a disappointment! My pho was very bland, my friend was not happy with his chicken dish that he said did not have much flavor also. My pho was also more $ than I have ever paid for. Service was prompt. Can't understand how it got so many good reviews, maybe we just tried the wrong dishes

It's cliche... but no one makes a Vietnamese crepe like my grandmother. Believe me I've pilgrimaged to the REAL Saigon as well as the OC's Little Saigon (and many places in between) in search of the best. No luck... until Green Leaf came into my life.
Across from House of Hong bustle in the ID, off of Jackson, this 2-story Vietnamese eatery delivers a strong menu and daring specials that no boring pho joint could compare. Think Monsoon but 1/4 the price. The best reason to go and return ... is HOME COOKING! Nothing pretentious here, just good old fashion Vietnamese food -- that is freshly made and great explosion of flavors. For me it's all about the crispy crunchiness of the hot crepe, mingled with the fresh coolness of the lettuce and herbs.
Forget about Pho friends... that's like getting only phad thai at your favorite Thai joint. It's a once in a while indulgence. Vietnamese crepes are forever!
PS - Try weekday dinners. Going on a weekend during weekend dim sum/brunch rush hours will be helter skleter -- beware. The House of Hong parking lot craziness will drive up your blood pressue.

I have heard good things about this place, but it turned out horrible when I went there. The waitress was no help to my family and I. We had to get up and ask for help when they weren't so busy at that time. The food took forever to come and when it did it was cold. I do not recommend this place to anyone unless they want to have a bad time.

The word about this place has been out for awhile now, being mentioned in publications like Bon Appetite, Food And Wine, Zagats and even The Food Network. Authentically prepared Vietnamese cuisine made with Love and the freshest ingredients possible. Generally healthy and also easy on your pocketbook, what's not to like? You will wait and it is cramped inside once you are seated, but you'll forget all of that once your food arrives. Standards such as vermicelli bowls, pho and egg noodle soups and a myriad of rolls are stellar. The combination plate with pork chop and sunny side up egg is an incredible value. The duck salad and papaya salad are refreshingly light and delicious. All sauces come on the side so you control the flavor meter.

Being that I am Vietnamese and love authentic home cooked Vietnamese food, Green Leaf hits the spot! There are your typical dishes, pho, rice dishes, chicken, and beef. However I highly recommend the Bahn Xeo (Bahn Sow). You can find it under the appetizer section of the menu. You can actually make a meal out of it
They describe it as a Vietnamese pancake, but crepe would be more accurate. It is a thin yellow crepe that has bean spouts and meat inside. You can get one or two! I suggest two if you are on the hungry side. It's not a heavy meal, however makes horrible leftovers. The crepe has a very faint coconut taste to it. It's not overpowering at all and even my bro in law (who hates coconut flavoring) loves this dish.
When they bring it out, they also provide other sides (mint leaves, cilantro, lettuce, and 2 dipping sauces). Some don't know how to eat this dish. It's simple. You wrap a piece of lettuce around some Bahn Xeo, add some mint and cilantro, then dip! It's a pretty messy dish, however very tasty. However, beware!! If you don't want bad breath, use the sweet, soy sauce, vinegar dip. The other one is garlic based. Both are very tasty!
When reading the other reviews, I realized that some were complaining about the service. I had wonderful service from the staff members. Pretty exceptional compared to other Vietnamese Restaurants that you find in the international district. But just an FYI, many authentic Asian restaurants in the International District aren't known for their service. It?s pretty much the case you come and go. Instant Gratification! So if you are looking for high class service, PF Changs downtown might be your cup of tea for disgusting Asian Food.

After reading the great reviews and hearing from friends that this was the ""best vietnamese in town,"" a few of us went last night and here's why this restaurant is only getting three stars:
*We were totally prepared to wait in line for awhile and did. However, the staff split a four-top in front of our eyes to let two parties of two skip in front of us while we waited another 20 or so minutes.
*the food was great, but they brought the wrong roll for one of our orders (I had the chicken/bok choy soup, which I would definitely recommend and the shredded beef roll--also great)
*we were finished with our meal for twenty minutes before we had to ask someone for our bill so we could leave.
Overall, this restaurant has great food but I expected the service to be a lot better, especially considering this restaurant is so small.

I've eaten at a lot of Vietnamese places in Seattle and in California--it's my favorite cuisine--and this is hands down the best I've had. I've probably been here 30 times now. It's far and away fresher and more interesting than your average place. Definitely get the fresh shrimp spring rolls-they have a crunchy center that's out of this world. The vermicelli bowls, the mango and papaya salads, the duck salad, the bahn xeo (crepe) and the fried flour cakes are all outstanding. There's usually a line but sometimes the owner comes out with snacks, and he puts out a heat lamp in winter. Depending on who is working, service can be great or just okay (like so many places in the International District), but the place is so small that it's easy to get a servers attention if you need them. The prices are incredibly low for the quality of the food.
If you're with a group you can make a reservation and thus bypass the omnipresent line.

In the land of poor, awful service, Green Leaf reigns supreme! And while the service is impeccable, the food is even better. I must add one caveat: I have only ordered the pho. However, if the rest of the menu is anything like the pho ? and I would bet dollars to donuts it is ? then don?t miss eating at Green Leaf. This place is one to try!

Great Food, Great Value, Great Services
I have been ordered same disk for the last 6 months and the food is taste the same.
The services are friendly.
Many choices of dishes but I like #30 :)
If you are going there, please take me.. even i am not hungry.
The place is a bit busy at lunch time.. but if your schedule is flexible for lunch, aviod the traffic. After all it worth the wait.
I have eaten there long enough, i think i am falling in love with one of the chefs (no, i have not met any of them.. just there cooking) :)))

This place immediately became one of my favorite Vietnamese locations! It took a few attempts to get there during a time it was open (it seemed that I'd come at a few randomly odd times when it was closed), but once in, all the other attempts seemed worth it! From great Pho, to scrumptious spring rolls and salads, everything here seems great! I love the dishware as well, with eclectic and matching styles to them! The service is great, even when every seat is packed!

This is one of my favorite resturants and I've been to a lot of resturants especially in the International District. The food and presentation are amazing with prices to match. The service is usually good but can be lacking at times due to lack of experience but they've always been friendly and warm.

I was really excited to check this place out after reading all of the GREAT reviews. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. The Pho was pedestrian with tough beef and overcooked starchy noodles. And the other dishes were not much better. And to make matters worse the service was terrible. We were seated quickly and then watched as other tables were seated and orders were taken.
There are some really good Vietnamese restaurants in this town, but this is just a fair one.

It's really sad that whenever I want Vietnamese food at a restaurant all that's available is ""pho"". Sometimes I want all those other dishes that I miss so very much - aka mommy's cooking. The best thing about this place is that if you're Vietnamese, Green Leaf has all those dishes that you wish all those other places have. They have ""bun rieu"" and will even give you ""mam ruoc'! They have ""banh xeo"" (which was a little too many bean sprouts..but it's better than nothing). :) They have ""goi thu du"", ""goi ngo sen"", and all these other types of ""goi""...they even have ""bo 7 mon!"" So far, I've only tried a couple of their dishes, but the fact that they have such a great selection of authentic Vietnamese food in one place makes me happy enough. Service / wait might be long sometimes, but everyone there is super nice & welcome speaking in Vietnamese.

I love this restaurant-the food is cheap, the servers are always really helpful, and even though I have been here many times and tried many different things, the food is always fresh, flavorful, and clean (you don't get that bloated, ""why did I eat that?!?!"" feeling you sometimes get with Chinese food). I love anything involving the vermicelli noodles (the fake shrimp is good on the vegetarian option) and the lemongrass chicken is good as well. If you haven't tried it, you should definitely make a trip to the ID.

As the Stranger said in their review, you almost don't want to tell people about this place...it's that good. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and have pride in every detail of the place, from the tea mugs to the wine glasses. They are very helpful in selecting your dishes, and the food is just wonderful. The Lemongrass chicken had some definite kick to it, and the Vietnamese omlette/crepe is not to be missed. Great place, I'll be back!

The food here is good. the service friendly and even more impressive is that all this at a reasonable price. I like the dishes I had that came with the seven courses of beef. All were great and tasty. The owner's wife even stop by to chat and help everyone feel more at home and relaxed. I enjoyed the reasonable price of wine. I'll be back.
