Best Car Rental Option Downtown

We live in downtown Seattle and, since we do not own a car, rent whenever we need to. Over the past 8 years we have rented from all the major car rental companies downtown and can recommend Dollar as A) having the best rates and the most friendly, polite and professional staff (and ""no"", I am not a relative!).

Don't do it. No matter what, why, who, etc!

Absolutely the worst car rental experience I have had in over 15 years of corporate and personal travel. Our car was very dinged up--litterally dings, chips and scrapes all around. That's no big deal, it's just a car I'm going to be driving for a couple days, right? The gentleman who helped us out walked around the car, made ""x"" marks all over the sheet where you review the damage, said yeah, lot of normal wear and tear.

When we returned the car two days later (in perfect condition), the fellow who checked us back in was extremely rude. He walked around the car, found a very small rock chip on the windshield (the kind autoglass places fix for free), and said that it was not marked on our pre-departure damage inspection sheet. (Mind you, our sheet looked like a bingo board at an old folks' home after an all day tournament--that's how many ""x"" marks were on it, indicating damage) We told him that the rock chip was there when we picked up the car (it was). He literally shoved the sheet in in our face, said it wasn't marked on there, that he could lose his job if he didn't file a damage report, and that there was nothing we could do. He proceeded to talk over us, raising his voice--just zero customer service. It was really unpleasant--the kind of thing you would never expect to experience in a customer service situation.

So, we asked to speak to the manager and he said she wasn't there, and we had to come back the next day at 7am. So, I got up extra early to make it there at 7am, and the same guy was there. He said ""she is late"" and to come back later, after 8am.

I ended up calling later in the day because I didn't want to spend any more time there. I spoke with the gal who is a manager, and although she was more pleasant to talk to (actual customer service experience I think), she basically said it was out of her hands, in the ""process"" and that we would be contacted by the appraiser (mind you, this is for a service most auto glass companies do for free).

Bottom line--there are two other car rental locations within a couple blocks. They can't possibly be worse than this location.

Worst Car Rental Experience EVER!

DO NOT rent from this location! If I could give less than one star I would!

I had reserved a car on New Years Day 2009 to take an anniversary trip to Vancouver, BC. The attendant took it upon herself to close up shop and go home early leaving myself and another couple with a separate reservation standing out in the cold.

The sign outside instructed us to call the airport location in case of an emergency. I guess our misfortune did not outweigh their inconvenience. The airport representative would not help us and only offered the solution of picking up a taxi to their location, the price of which would be our burden.

If in downtown Seattle and looking for a rental car, please check out Alamo / National rentals located in the Seattle Hilton on 6th ave. They were kind enough to get us a car in the last minute.

Cheap daily rates

I reserved a car here to rent for one day because they had the cheapest rates I could find. The service was very friendly! The car I got was practically brand new with only 1000 miles. The two people working there were super nice and check out was pretty fast (about 15 minutes). Warning: Don't arrive too early before they open because unlike some other rental places they don't open until on the dot, if not a couple minutes late. Otherwise, they are great!

Awful customer service!!!

My husband and I rent a car about once a month. I have never had such a bad experience with a rental car company. They are uncommunicative and rude and I highly recommend to everyone, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
