Another wonderful meal at Vignole. We are so happy to have this great little cafe in our neighborhood. My husband had a small portion of the tripe - courtesy of Sandro the owner, and though he's still not a fan of tripe, the sauce was phenomenal. We had the roasted romaine salad with grilled prawns which is our usual - it's salty and slightly sweet with a wonderful smokiness (try the grilled pear salad too!) I had a roasted fennel ravioli in a walnut cream, by not too creamy, sauce and the flavors complimented each other perfectly. My husband had the octopus in an amazing tomato based sauce with Pappardelle, a wide ribbon pasta.

Alesandro has a bonafide accent from Lucca, Italy and a wide grin that lights up when he sees you enjoy his food. He cares so much about every detail and it shows. Because I am Italian and very choosy about authentic Italian, I don't eat at Italian restaurants much except Il Terrazzo on occasion. I just found out that Alesandro cooked there 12 years!
We are now regulars there and have even booked some private parties there because he is so reasonable compared to anywhere else.
Love these folks and this place!
