The Doctor I saw was Dr. Joel Konokow and he has been incredibly hard to work with. He doesn't bother to listen to his patients and has actually berated me for questioning something I didn't understand fully and requested clarification, I later found others experienced the same thing. He was cold and uncaring and treated me as if I was a nuisance rather than a valuable human being in pain and needing, deserving his help.

I would not even give this medical office one star. Dr Victor Chin said my cataracts were bad, but not bad enough for my insurance company to agree to surgery. He said he'd do the surgery tomorrow if they would approve it, and that my life would be a lot better if I could see netter. I called my insurance and got their approval. Then dr Chin would not return my calls, and his receptionist did not know what to do. He is making so much money with better insurance companies, he did not want to bother with the paltry sum that mine was going to pay him. What a jerk. I still can't see.
I went in today for an eye exam so I could order some new glasses using an online deal. I was slightly early and the really friendly front desk ladies were able to get me through the paperwork and I was seen promptly at the scheduled time by Dr. Dan. He was courteous, professional and meticulous. I felt very comfortable and appreciated as a customer. It was well worth the drive from West Seattle-the couple of shops I called in my neighborhood were booked a month out and Rainier Valley was able to schedule me SAME WEEK! When I mentioned ordering glasses online I was not made to feel guilty or pressured into purchasing them in the office. Dr. Dan checked and double checked my prescription and was particularly careful to examine me for eye problems that run in my family. Highly recommended, well worth the trip! I will be a repeat customer as long as they're in business!
I've been going to Dr. Gay for over 15 years, and I can say that if you want a cr*p prescription, the Lenscrapters/mall experience, or the bum's rush out the door, go somewhere else--it'll free up appointments for us returning loyal clients. On request she took my base prescription and modified it for both far-away driving glasses and for close-up computer-screen glasses. She fills contact-lens orders too.NB I've had awful experiences from other optometrists who had far glitzier offices, computerized records, bla, bla, bla: but--prescriptions filled wrongly or with indefinite waits, condescending jerks hustling me for extras and addons, higher fees due to excessive staffing. If some of the crank reviewers one-starring Dr. Gay actually got out a little they might conclude that their criticisms were off-base when it comes to end results.
