The location is very good the service not so much. The mega room is the way to go here as it is the size of an average room you would get outside of the city. The staff are nice enough and well meaning but there is no attention to detail so if you are looking for a room close to Time Square and don't need anything from the staff this would be fine. If you are the type of person that likes room service, concierge services or pretty much anything else that the staff would provide this is not the hotel for you. Examples: Check-in ..... This went smoothly except my room was not ready when I checked in, which was fine because I was early. They told me they would call me when the room was ready and since check out is noon I figured it wouldn't be long. Three hours later I was still waiting for my room because they neglected to tell me that the people staying in that room were not checking out until 2:00pm. The manager finally gave me another room at 3:00pm. In addition I was told at check-in that I had a package and it would be delivered to my room. Great, I was expecting the package and was anxious to receive it. Three hours later I had to call and ask for the package.Concierge: Awful! We had to wait to check our bags when we were waiting for our room; we had to wait to get our bags back after we finally did get our room. We went to the concierge for information and the gentleman was on the phone so we patiently waited for at least 10 minutes with no acknowledgement from him. We finally left and did not return. At the end of our stay they had added a charge to our bill for the munchies bar (we did not eat anything from this) We called and no one answered so we left a message and three hours later we still had not received a call back. We finally had to go the front desk to resolve this. We needed a cab so we went to the door man who was hailing cabs for other guests. There was a line and we were the third party in the line. The doorman did not acknowledge us, others came behind us and he asked where they needed to go but still nothing for us. Finally the two parties in front of us left and he still did not acknowledge us but continued to ask the people behind us their destination and even hailed cabs for some of the people behind us. I guess he expected us to give up but we stayed and finally a cab pulled up to drop off a passenger and he waves us over sand said, “you can take this one”. The next night we walked 15 feet beyond the hotel entrance and hailed a cab ourselves and were on our way in less than a minute. For the remainder of our stay we hailed our own cabs and arranged our own drivers. The Acura Experience was the best thing about this hotel. There is only the one vehicle so it is difficult to get a time slot so plan ahead and reserve your time. The gentleman came into the lobby and escorted us out, he treated us like we were royalty (and he was genuine), he was very personably and talked with us while he drove us to our destination, we were even offered bottled water, at our destination he dropped us in the exact right place and was the most professional staff we encountered. A huge thumbs up to the Acura staff. (I have to wonder if they are even employed by the hotel because the service was so out of character from the other staff). Housekeeping: The room was made up nice so no problem there but she did report that we used an item from the munchie bar when we did not. She didn’t give us fresh robes (which were kind of disgusting anyway) and she did not replace our breakfast order card. Again the attention to detail is what this hotel is most lacking in. Checkout – went smoothlyBottom line – I would rate this hotel as average. There was nothing that I would be “up in arms” about but also nothing that exceeded my expectations. If I stay here again I will prearrange my own transportation and will eat else ware.

Great location and poor serviceFirst of all, hotel manager provided me with the room located at the second floor with windows directed to the street, while at least two other rooms with different location were free. This manager was aware that road works had been scheduled at the same night, and he was definitely aware that my room #201, was the closest to the noise. I mean, road works were side by side with my windows, so I have been listening the pick hammers and asphalt-placing machine the half night as I was standing right in front of them. Both hotel managers (the guy who worked until midnight and the next one after him) declined my requests to give me another room saying that although two more rooms were indeed empty, they were reserved, and cleaning service was not available after the business hours. So what was the sense to give me the worst room during my check-in, while other rooms were still available at that time? Next day I had a terrible headache and I've got a cold, because hotel did not started heating and outside night's temperature was about 40 (+4-7 Celsius). The reason why my room was so noisy and so cold - the window near my bed had a removable air conditioner and no curtains at all. So every sound from the street as well as cold air freely getting in. I tried to remove it, and asked hotel manager to remove it - no way. "Free Wi-Fi" in the hotel was also as great as overall service, and died every 30 sec, so I used Cosy's free Wi-Fi to check my e-mails instead.
I came to NY for a dream vacation and decided to make it one I wouldn't regret. So I chose to stay in the historical Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Well when I checked in I was truly impressed by the grandeur of the hotel lobby. However, upon getting into my original room which was upgraded I noticed that all I could hear was the street noise from the adjacent hotels limo service. After relocating to a new room which seemed to be better at first appearance but that was further from true. The rooms climate control would only get hotter and not cool down and when I inquired about it I was told that I could only turn the heat off and open a window, which someone would have to come and open, because it was a historic site. My third night I could hear the conversations of the guest in the next room as they casually discussed their day. I am truly disappointed that I paid extra to upgrade my room and then discover that I have had better stays in the Hampton Inn.
My husband and I were truly disappointed with the stay at the UN Hotel Plaza. It was our anniversary weekend and the room accommodations should have been way better. We requested a refrigerator for medication purposes which was never received and was never communicated to me until I went to the concierge desk to ask about it. There are stains in the carpet near the door, on the window shade, on the walls in the bathroom, etc. There is paneling in the bathroom is poorly secured to the wall. We didn't want to utilize the telephone near the bed as the cords were exposed from the handset and the cord was stained with something. The filtering for the air system was clearly not cleaned for months and had my allergies in an uproar. For the price you pay to stay in this hotel I really believe things should have been better kept. Also the room wasn't what was expected from what is seen on the Expedia website for reservations.
I was referred to this hotel by a friend who stayed for 3 months while getting integrated to NYC, so I stayed for one month while I searched for an apartment in the City. It's located in a GREAT location on the UWS of NYC, close to shops, restaurants and just a short walk to either Riverside Park or Central Park! I felt completely safe during my stay - had enough baggage to fill the room since I was moving back to the City, and I was never worried about any of it being in the room whenever I was out of the room. The room was always kept clean by the hotel staff as well, so overall, it was a great experience!I've recommended the hotel to a friend who is staying there now with a couple of other friends and I have full confidence that they'll have such an enjoyable and wonderful time visiting the City knowing that they're in a safe, clean and hospitable hotel! I can only highly recommend it - it's a great value for the price!!
I've been coming to Morningside for many years. The value is absolutely incredible for the location. The hotel is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, which is a very quite, family-friendly area of the city. The hotel is just blocks for the 1 train, so you basically have New York at your finger tips within a matter of minutes. The hotel itself is very clean and the hotel staff is EXCELLENT. One of the best parts about Morningside is that each floor is equipped with a full kitchen, so if you are on a budget, this is a great way to cut the cost of your trip. As I mentioned before, the staff at Morningside is the best - from the front desk to the housekeepers. I've found the staff here to be extremely polite and helpful, which makes the stay even better! I would definitely recommend staying here and am looking forward to my next visit and many more to come!
Loved this, had a private bathroom in our room on the 2nd floor and need to come back here again. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff checked for our reservation and just gave us our key and door number and that was that. Wifi they have it on a piece of paper for different floors. Comes with good channels on the tv, mini fridge, clean towels, just a really amazing place. They have a nice sized kitchen in the hall way also for anyone looking to cook. Didn't hear any of the other guests. Small elevator but, never crowded. Seriously, in all and all, I recommend this to anyone looking to book this place today tomorrow or next week, whenever, its really nice and reasonable for the price. I say spend a like extra just for your own bathroom if you are a couple or not, who knows it may be worth it for your day off or new to the town (:
Myself and 2 other friends stayed here after finishing our work as camp counsellors over the summer in the states. Being students we weren't wanting to spend most of our wages on a hotel so for the price that we paid, we didn't expect much. However, the staff were friendly and the room was exactly what we expected. Cleaned everyday with fresh towels and bed sheets. Room was small but had a fridge and the TV had plenty of channels including British sport to watch. The area was fine with no bother at all. It is quite northern compared to Times Square but it is only a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest subway station in either direction and plenty of food such as McDonalds and Dominos to eat. All in all we were very pleased with the hotel and would recommend it to anyone with the same expectations.
I stayed at the morningside Inn for 3 nights with my husband and son. We had such a good time. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by patrick (the manager)and the two hispanic ladies that work there. They were so friendly and hospitable. My son took such a liking to patrick . he made us feel like we 've known each other for years, and the 2 young ladies that were there were so polite and friendly. they helped us find our way around the city, and even went as far as watching my son for me while i ran out to the store. The atmosphere at morningside inn was great . I recommend this hotel to everyone that is traveling alone or with children. It's like home away from home.
