We had a family vacation in LA with family and rented a car through Alamo at LAX airport. The experience was excellent. The pickup was quick and we got to the Alamo in no time. Got through checking process very quickly and we were on our way in 15 minutes (includes getting to the car and loading luggage). One thing to note, machines for self-checking would not scan IL driver's license. We had to check-in with customer service. Car was clean, full of gas and ready to go. The best part, we got to choose which car we wanted to drive from the category we paid for. We reserved Premium and had a choice of Toyota Avalon, Chevy Impala, Chrysler 300M and some Buick. All cars had leather and were almost brand new. We chose Toyota Avalon.Return was super easy as well, just drove in, unloaded luggage and ourselves, got the receipt and went our way. Total was about 3 minutes. The buses to take us to the gates were already waiting for us and we got to our terminal in about 15 minutes considering major traffic in the airport. At the end we only paid 93 dollars (6 dollars less than when we reserved) for 5 days rental. Would I rent again? I would not rent from other ever again. Best experience ever!!!
I was going to L.A. for 2 days. The rate I received online at about $13 per day, total with taxes, without any additional insurance, but adding in those mandatory airport or Los Angeles fees to help them build the staple center came to a total of a very reasonable $45 for the two days total. I received a quick service, my choice of vehicles in the classified selected, compact, a clean car, and when I turned it in I was able to be on a bus with in a minute or two of pulling the car into the slot. The parking lot attendant and to be read receipt for the exact amount I expected. I could not have asked for better service, and have used alible several times in the past including at the LAX terminal i've never had anything but excellent service there.
I use National worldwide, and this location has the worse shuttle service of any other location I've utilized. The selection of cars is good, and the employees were friendly. But I watched multiple Avis, Hertz and Enterprise shuttles pass by me at the terminal before a National bus showed up. It was completely full, and had luggage stored on the floor in the aisle, which created a safety hazard for the passengers on-board. The shuttle service from their lot to the airport had the same issues. From reading the other reviews, this is a recurring and common problem with this location. They obviously are not interested in addressing it.
LAX is far from my favorite place, and I've had many car rental experiences that contributed to that. Alamo is the exception. We didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for the shuttle, and the driver was especially friendly and helpful. I was expecting the check-in line to be a madhouse, because that's what I've experienced at other well-known agencies, but it wasn't! The process was so smooth & painless. The cars were in good shape and returning the car was equally a breeze. I will never rent at another agency if I fly into LAX.
Well it's not actually on the airport property but none of them are. A bus transports from LAX to National. It was crowded, however being a premium member allow you to by-pass the front desk and walk over to any car you want in your row....there's a lot of choices. I like National for this very reason. We don't fly as much as we once did but I always check prices with National first...sometimes they a too high and other time (like now) they were reasonable. National I was very happy with your process and my rental. Thanks
I love this place! This was my first time renting from them and I got the exact car that I wanted. Go off the plane, waited for the shuttle bus for about 3-5 mins and was there in and out. The kiosk wouldn't read my ID, so I was told to go over to customer service and I was in an out. My Dodge Challenger came right out 5 mins later fresh out the car wash! Dropping it off was easy as pie and they didn't over charge me. Next time I go any where I am renting from Alamo! Thanks for making my vacation awesome!!
I always book with National for my business trips to the LA area. The shuttles from LAX are frequent and the process is always seamless. I choose the emerald aisle car and my choices usually vary from compact car to suv to minivan - I can choose whichever vehicle I'd like. Drop off is also very easy, just drive it in the lot, confirm your credit card details and you are on the shuttle back to the airport to be dropped off right at your gate. I am a frequent return customer and I have no complaints!
I like National, but they have to do something about the bus transport to and from the terminal at LAX. Flying frequently in and out of there, you wait as long as 45 minutes when every other rental car company has 4-5 buses come through before a single one from National shows up. Many have provided the same feedback to National Management on site, but no improvement has been made in over 2 years. Thinking of switching for this reason alone.
Best customer service. The man that works there ALI is supper sweet and helpful. Even when i was late on my payment he worked with me so i could still afford renting a car. They even give you discount prices if you rent with them for a week which is awesome especially when your on a budget. I would recommend renting from Value Rental Car ANY day because they are honestly the best rental car company around!
This is the place to rent a car from at LAX. Yes, it is a small operation but they are BIG ON SERVICE1. Excellent prices2. Picked up at the airport in a car, not a bus and taken right to the rental office.3. Good car, even for a cheepo.4. Nice people to deal with. Winston is just super!!5. Bring the car back to them and they drive you back to the terminal.6. See number 4!! I was that impressed!
