I would like to add my review regarding Desert Living Contractor Chris Hertzog our experience was not pleasant at all Contract was for a set amount and time at the end project took longer than stated there where several times we had to ask for corrections or areas paint was missing. They left a lot of messy areas with paint on fixures on my driveway dropped epoxy and stained driveway broke stucco on one window area when using power washer. Towards end Chris wanted payment before project was fully completed upon telling him no payment would be giving until everything was done per contract he proceeded to have attitude in his texts. We would also call or text him throughout project and he would not answer our calls. Very rude very pushy in getting money before project is done and towards the end very sloppy work done.
Got a quote to renovate our flooded house from Chris Hertzog at Desert Living, plus upgrade 2 bathrooms. Mainly used unskilled Mexican Nationals. Sheetrock installer left a line at various places in house where new sheetrock was . texture was supposed to match. Not 100%. The painters were Mexican nationals and were slingers not painters. poor job of masking. two 5 gal buckets of tan paint were mixed up by Chris, Home Depot or the painters? One was flat the other semi gloss. They painted the walls flat, touchup with semi gloss. Chris said it was just the way we looked at it and it would "marry" after curing. ? the painters can't read and write english . bucket lids marked with "walls", totally confused. repainted, less semi gloss but its still evident. 2 showers with tile should be an easy task for a good tile man. Tile man 1 totally screwed up the work he did . No clue about tiling. Tile man 2 came in and tore out all the crap from first one. He worked about 3 or 4 days and got about 1 and 1/2 done, never got paid by Chris, never showed up to finish, then got arrested and jailed on Monday. his father , tile man 3 , showed up and commenced to pick up where his son left off. by Friday he walked off the job.....showers still not finished. the following week Chris told us that he had Tile man #4 coming to finish up the showers. He may have been a good tile man 20 years ago, but not now. plan must have been to slap up some tile and cover up mistakes with grout. My son in law stop by to see how the progress. An argument ensued when my son in law questioned his methods. Tile man 4 called Chris and they agreed that he should leave and for Tile man 4 to tell me that Chris was thru and we could just finish it ourselves. Of course this was after Chris had already collected most of total fee by smoozing us and fast talking. Don't use unless you want shoddy workmanship and and an absentee contractor. Don't do work without a written detailed contract.
