When my mother passed away, my husband and I made an appointment at Funeral Caring in Schertz to make final arrangements. When we arrived, the woman dusting the knickknacks in the reception area barely straightened up to ask our names, much less offer condolences. She just waved us to the back, to join some other people. We then discovered that the private consultation room had been given to a family who had walked in to pre-plan their funerals, so the director, who barely even said hello, told us we would have to just sit there in the foyer to make the arrangements for my mother's body. Not only were we sitting out in the open for anyone to hear, the director also took two lengthy phone calls within the first ten minutes, holding up a finger and telling us they were important calls. My husband politely reminded her that we had an appointment, and asked her to please hang up, but to no avail. We were so upset, we just walked out. These ladies acted like we were just another file to get out of their 'in' basket. There was absolutely no sympathy or even reverence. We went to the Funeral Caring at 410 and Jackson-Keller instead, and were met at the door by two young ladies who both shook our hands and offered their condolences. They were so professional and polished, it was hard to believe that it was the same company. From start to finish, they were kind, respectful and compassionate. We were so glad we drove the extra distance to this location. My mother was such a special person - it would have hurt me to have her arrangements made so callously by those ladies at the Schertz location.
