I have taken Chynna to Deer Run for 11-1/2 yrs. I never had a problem with any of the vets - they were always kind and loving with her. I never had any problems when requesting a certain vet. Since Dr. Van Winkle was fairly new to Deer Run, I decided I wanted to meet him and have him check out Chynna - I was impressed with him. There is a Wellness Program that you can check out and it covers quite a bit including doctor visits. Cindy Cosmo
Deer Run is the best animal clinic to which I have taken my furry kids. The entire staff is dedicated to the well being of the pets they treat. Dr. Jokela is highly intelligent and knowledgeable. She is a very thorough practitioner, and was able to diagnose and prescribe a treatment program to extend a quality life for our schnoodle when other veterinarians, including a veterinarian internist, could not do so. If you are truly interested in preserving a quality life for your pet I recommend, without a hesitation, this animal clinic. I give it a strong FIVE STARS!
I took my dog there for a regular check-up. This was the most expensive place I have ever been to. When I scheduled the appointment I had requested a certain doctor. When we arrived for the appointment we were tricked and given a different doctor without my permission. I was asked to purchase services that were not necessary. They wanted to examine my dog in their back room without me. Why on earth would they want to do that except to hide how they treat the animals? I spoke with the receptionists at length about heartworm medication and the receptionist tried to get me to purchase all medications from her. She even said that I should purchase generic medications from her. I explained to the receptionist that I wanted to get prices from 1800 PETMEDS because I had a $15.00 coupon from 1800PETMEDS because I had made a previous purchase with them. At no time did the receptionist explain to me that I would need to come back AGAIN and pick up a prescription for the heartworm medication. When 1800PETMEDS faxed a request to the vet’s office so my dog could get her heartworm medication I received a call from the vet's office asking me to call them back. I called them back the next day and spoke with Penny who said that they never respond and WILL NEVER respond to the faxes that they receive from 1800PETMEDS. She STILL tried to get me to purchase meds from her and when I told her again that I did not want to she said I would have to pick up the prescription from her and mail it in myself to 1800PETMEDS. I explained to her that was a major inconvenience but it did not matter to her. She put her supervisor Lisa on the line and Lisa was patronizing and unhelpful. When I told Lisa about all the things that happened to me at the visit she had no response whatsoever. All she cared about was getting me to purchase meds from her and she refused to respond to 1800PETMED's fax. Why didn’t they just give me the prescription for heartworm medication when I was already there at the appointment? The only reason I can think of is to trick you into purchasing meds from them. And these people at Deer Run Animal Hospital are still in business?
Very Costly, and not really knowing what is wrong. Back and forth as if our "Money Grows on a Tree" or maybe we are paying for their so called education;
After many, many x-ray's, and not sure how many blood test, dog did not improve, said she is to loose weight...did...but no better, still cannot walk good. Oh, she is getting old (9) get rabbie shots etc, oh she is doing fine. Huh...why are her eyes yellow? And why are her Gums yellow....age, could take another blood test....GUESS WHAT "SHE IS DEAD" NOT EVEN A MONTH LATER:.
