We went on Saturday night there based on the reviews and ratings on yelp.It is a very small place with around 6 tables. We ordered Aloo paratha, Roti , dum veg biryani and egg masala..Aloo paratha was made with the alo o subzi loaded with onions and mustard seeds.Roti sorry but not even ok and that is basic thing which any restaurant has normal taste.Dum biryani never tasted like biryani at all we just had a spoon and thrashed it.Egg curry was so so badly done with 3 boiled eggs placed in left over alo o subzi.Never till date we have seen egg curry with aloo subzi gravy with some hairs as complimentary. It's just waste of time and money.Just stay away..You might be wondering why some many good reviews. We saw that this is right opp to IV apartments filled with majority of desis..It's very reasonably priced for bachelor's and families just arrived from india who want to eat there or to go orders .Unfortunately we could not say a word as they took the payment even before we were seated
We visited Udipi for dinner on our way thru Chicago. It is supposed to be a pure vegetarian place but this location serves meat and as per their menu, they are proud about it :-( . Not a good sign in continuing traditions. This was my first disappointment. We ordered the traditional items like Avial, poori, paper masala dosa, rava dosa which are very basic and traditional items. We would expect Udipi to nail them as they are supposed to be good at them. But to our disappointment.. #Avial. . Is not good, it tasted like coconut milk and yogurt chutney without any vegetables in it.#Paper dosa. . Was very thick and not crispy at all.#Poori.. tasted like half fried dough. .#Udipi chat..was like random mixture of sweet and savor sauce with dahi vada in it..there is nothing special in it..# menu said Avial will be served with Rice..but they forgot to serve rice. When we asked for it, they served it as if they are doing a favor.Bad service..and bad quality food.Never going to visit this place or any Udipi location in future for breaking their tradition and not respecting the quality of the food. A big disappointment indeed.
I've had a lot of Indian food but this place just became my favorite. The prices are reasonable and the buffet is filled with one delicious thing after another. Two thumbs up!!!!
The food was excellent and cool ambiance. We are prefer non-spice food,We asked the manager to select our menu.He took excellent care of us.It was a delicious experience.
I have been visiting Gaylord for many years; all the way back to when their only location was on Clark in the city. Since I live in the suburbs, I was very excited years ago when they opened in Schaumburg. The food and service are wonderful, and regulars are truly treated like family. We are vegetarian, and the staff is always willing to make new recommendations. I would (and do) highly recommend Gaylord to all of my friends and colleagues.
