The first time I went to David's was in July to purchase my wedding dress. Tanya was very helpful and I left with a beautiful dress, I was very happy with the level of service I received from her at the time. However, I am very disappointed at the alterations of my dress. When I first got fitted they took a few things off here and there and fixed the hem, it cost be 310$ at the time, which is a lot (the dress was 700$). I told them to just fix the inside of the sleeves since it was poking me, which she said was okay. The dress fit me fine, it wasn't tight or anything, so they agreed to do the hem and the sleeves and pull up the dress a bit since the shoulders were big. When I went back a week later the dress mysteriously got tighter on me (on the sides). I know I had not gained any weight, so I was a little upset about this. The lady said it was because my waist size got bigger from a week ago, I call BS on that. Anyway, she charged me another 40$ because in order to pull out the sides it was an area they hadn't worked on before, so there's another charge (go figure). I went in a week later (2 days before my wedding) take the dress and leave. It's the day of the wedding and my girls are helping me put my dress on, it was just as tight as it was when she agreed to fix it, and not to mention there was no clasp to close the hook that was on it so the zipper wouldn't stay closed. I spent the entire night having people call me over to tell me my dress was slightly opened from the back. I am very upset that I had to pay almost $400 in alterations for my dress and they ended up ruining it at the end of the day. Initially I was very happy with the service I received, but after what I experienced, especially because they ruined my dress to the point I had to find a safety pin to hold it together, I will never recommend them to anyone.
WORST SERVICE EVER! DO NOT go here. The lady working the front counter was the rudest person ever!!!
This has nothing to do with the people at this store specifically. I went to try on a bridesmaids dress and place an order at the end of july. I was told the dress wouldnt arrive untill OCTOBER. Are you kidding me? 4 months for a bridesmaids dress. So i say okay, i mean i really have no choice but now i have no time for alterations seeing as the wedding is in mid november! So i call on oct 25th to see if my dress has arrived and NOPE it hasnt. Its going to be a week late! Youve had 4 months and now its going to be another week?? And no email!? No call!? No nothing to let me know my order would be delayed. Now my poor seemstress is going to have to alter the dress in three days. Completely unprofessionable and unreliable. Will not be buying my gown or the rest of my bridesmaids gowns here. No offer to fix the issue in anyway or to help me out with the situation at all. Just a "well it will be here next week".
This was the most stressful experience ever especially since my wedding was a destination wedding! From being lied too by the manager and experiencing horrible customer service by both the manager and alterations lady. I will never come back to this place again. I have 4 sisters and a lot of girlfriends who are not married yet that I will never ever recommend this place too. NOT FOR ANYONE!!!!Regards,Ariel
This place was one of the best wedding dresses shopping. All employees were very helpful and nice. Melisa especially was a great help and encouraging
DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY REASON..... IT'S NOT WORTH IT! How is it acceptable to order a dress in October and not get it until july? And to top it off my "wear date" was July 4th and they didn't have my dress in the store until July 2nd!! What about alterations and adjustments? The weeks leading up to this I was unable to speak to anyone who could tell me when or where my dress was. Every time I called, even during business hours I was told only a manager could look up that info so I would leave a message and was told that the manager would contact me the next day. I was never called back. So finally I called until the store answered and was told the manager was on another call so I decided I would wait. 20 minutes later I'm still on hold so I asked my fiance to call the store and ask for the manager while I'm still on hold, the receptionist then tells him that she is meeting with a bride. When he tells her that I am on their other line waiting to speak with the manager she then tells him she didn't know I was wanting or waiting to speak with the manager. Their customer service skills are completely absent. It is not ok to get a dress in 2 days before the day you are supposed to wear it. DO NOT LET ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY GO HERE FOR ANY REASON. SAVE YOUR SELF AND OTHERS THE STRESS THESE UNFORGIVING PEOPLE WILL CAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had an appointment for trying on wedding dresses.. I had to wait a while as they were busy and also very short handed. When I was seen I had a list I put together from online and they had none in stock to try on so she pulled "Similar dresses" to my list. Was not close to what I wanted, I had to go look for more of what I wanted. In the meantime, I waited awhile for my consultant to keep jumping from room to room. 2 of her other clients left that night due to lack of attention. I almost did, but ended up liking the last dress I tried on. When I went to go pick up my dress, I wasn't asked for a receipt of identification, just asked my name. Would not go back.
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO TO THIS HOUSE OF BRIDES IN SCHAUMBURG!!!!! They are horrible, not only do you pay top dollar for the dress, I received a second dress that looked like it was a sample from the floor! Seams were coming apart, holes where thread should be was in the front! I had no time for them to order me a 3rd dress since the first one came with stains all over it! They are not BBB Accredited as they show in the store! Please save yourself and do not even go here!
This place is awful!!! Service is terrible, the people that work there are complete idiots!!! They have a ton of dresses, but it isn't worth the headache. I have personally been there 3 times with my bridesmaids trying on dresses for them and they STILL haven't gotten the order correct. Wrong color, different styles for the wrong girls, not even the prices are correct. They can't get it together over there!! I have ordered dresses through them before for friends weddings and they came in wrong. Should have learned my lesson. Shame on me!!! This place needs to be called "House of People who will F Up Your Wedding" . Ready to strangle someone.
Visit www.houseofbridesillinois.wordpress.com My story with House of Brides is a lengthy one from what you can see below. I’ve made a mission to try to help stop other people from making the mistake my bridal party did. I’ve been keeping up with their Facebook page, commenting on other girls’ posts about how late their dresses are & giving them my story. Turns out that the House of Brides has a horrible social media team who decided to delete my comments and block me from posting instead of simply refunding the money for altering and ruining my bridesmaid dress. This store significantly brought unneeded stress and guilt to my best friend’s wedding – something she, nor any girl deserve.I hope that each of you can email me at Jem626@gmail.com to tell me your story. I am going to apologize with the lengthy novel, but to get our entire story straight, I wanted to be detailed. The link has the full story but this sums up my experience with this awful store:In brief, we waited over four months for our dresses, when they did come in (under 3 weeks til the wedding), my dress alterations were so awful I took it after the second fitting to another tailor who told me that my hem was uneven and the only way to fix it was going to make my floor length gown too short. I was back and forth with their Facebook account as well as the manager at the store seeking my $95 refund for my alterations. After numerous discussions and emails the call me THE DAY of the wedding to give me my refund – then called me hours later to change it to a partial refund. Please, please understand that it’s not simply my experience, but all the bridal party. Most dresses weren’t altered properly and more than one of us took it somewhere else.Since then, the House of Brides has blocked me from posting on their Facebook page as well as deleting all my comments. Their page is filled with questions of panic that dresses aren’t coming in, or they’re not getting service they desire.
