Massage therapy can be a healing tool and users quickly realize that they have found a form of drugless therapy. Headaches, insomnia, digestive disorders including constipation and spastic colon, arthritis, asthma, carpal tunnel syndrome, sinusitis, and minor aches and pains are some of the problems that can respond to massage therapy. Massage can have an excellent effect on nervous people who have been dependent on their pharmacy for rest and relaxation.
Massage has its greatest benefits over time. The therapeutic effects of massage are cumulative, so the more often a person gets a massage, the better he or she will feel and the more quickly one’s body will respond. From one session to the next, relaxation deepens as the chronic patterns of stress in the body are affected and released. These changes are readily felt in day-to-day life as well, which adds another dimension of reinforcement. If you are getting massage to address chronic muscular tension or recovery from a soft tissue injury, more than one session is usually needed, so be prepared to schedule several sessions.
The relationship of stress and illness is of interest to anyone maintaining their health. We all have stress in our daily lives relating to work, family, environment, society. Mental tensions, frustrations, and insecurity are among the most damaging. Stress causes the release of hormones that create vaso-constriction, or vessel shrinking – which causes reduced circulation. Affected by stress, the heart works harder, breathing becomes rapid and shallow, and digestion slows. Nearly every body process is degraded. Psychosomatic studies show how stress factors can cause migraines, hypertension, depression, some peptic ulcers, etc.
Researchers have estimated that 80% of disease is stress related. Soothing and relaxing massage therapy can help by counteracting stress effects.
Massage also aids recovery from soft tissue injuries such as sprains and strains. This is possible because the growth and repair of tissue are accelerated by efficient circulation in the injured areas and appropriate stimulation of the healing tissues. Many soft tissue injuries are not serious enough to cause one to visit a doctor or hospital for treatment, or are only treated with some first-aid, but still cause some discomfort and disability. Massage therapy can often help speed and improve recovery and reduce discomfort from such mishaps. In this way, massage helps bridge the gap between common neglect of injury and major medical intervention.

BEWARE. Extremely OBSESSIVE AND CREEPY. I had an appointment scheduled but had a medical emergency the day of the appointment. I was at the doctors office when Charles Dane began calling my phone over and over. After the 5th time he called, I had to block the number because it was so disruptive during my appointment. He called the next day from another number and yelled at me and "thanked" me for not bothering to show up. I couldn't even respond before he hung up the phone. He did not answer when I called back to explain the situation and let him know how inappropriate and unprofessional his behavior was. This is the most creepy experience I've ever had with a massage therapist. I am shocked. I never post reviews but people, especially women, need to be warned. Thank God I had something come up because if I had actually went, there's no telling what sort of obsessive behavior would have ensued.
I just had a massage by Charles Dane at Savannah Massage. It was an amazing experience. I was a little apprehensive about getting a massage by a guy, but Charles made me totally comfortable and at ease.
He asked questions about my physical issues, but as he worked he just seemed to know where the knots were and which muscles needed more work. He could tell by touch just what I needed. When it ended I was so relaxed. He also gave me some stretching exercises which will help some of my tight muscles. He demonstrated them and had me do them to make sure I was doing it correctly. Additionally, it is a very soothing environment with soft music and lush green plants. It is definately something I will do again.
