The place is old and moldy, the new remodel did not help to eliminate the stench. The staff is unprofessional: ladies walking around in high heels and skimpy outfits. The prices are astronomical. They insisted on giving me a new prescription - the new glasses distort my vision so badly that I cannot walk in them or put anything down on the table. They bother you with countless reminders of an appointment and then make you wait in a waiting room with a dog.
Awful and dishonest business. I literally felt sick when I left because their staff lied over and over - overcharged me, tacked on fees after fees. I ended up having another eye exam done out of my own pocket because I didn't trust these and guess what, they were wrong! Do NOT go there!!!
After relocating to New York, I needed a new eye doctor. I called around and chose Family Vision Care Center because they could get me in quickly, as I was about to run out of my contacts. After four eye exam visits, one contact order, and nearly 10 different trials….I'm going to another doctor. I should file with the BBB, but honestly, I just want to be rid of the lot of them. Numerous times I found myself in tears as time after time they could not correctly identify my prescription or why contacts irritated my eye. After 13 years of contact wearing.....this was my first issue ever. I was actually told at my last visit that, despite my eye sight still being off, that "this is as good as it will get." Sorry, but that's not an acceptable answer when it comes to my eyes. Infer from it what you will, but I will not ever be returning. I have to pay $170 for a new exam, and cover the cost of a new batch of contacts….so by the end of it all I'm going to be out $455 ($35 for the original contacts that wasn't refunded to me, $170 for the second exam, and about $250 for the new contacts) because they're an incompetent office.
I have been going here the last few years because the company I work for has a contract with them for our optical insurance. Every time I go there is a long wait and it feels very disorganized. My visit this year was the same old, but I had another event. The girl who initially checked me in said I could throw out my old contacts seen as I was overdue for a pair and they were very worn. So I took them out and took a seat. The doctor called me back and told me never to throw my contacts out because they need to see how they fit in my eyes. So I had to come back and see him to see how they fit after I got my new contacts. Lack of knowledge and miscommunication between the staff. Very frustrating for customers. If this wasn't the only place my insurance worked with, I most definitely would choose somewhere else.
