Hunters Choice

This review is based on a coating job and a FFL transfer, not a purchase prices are insanely to high for me to buy from them.
First off the coating, I had a firearm sprayed by them. I originally wanted a coyote tan color, but upon calling Hunter's Choice they said they only do one color a week. It just so happened that the color they were doing was very close to the coyote tan I wanted. So I said great let's do that color, how long will it be. I was told that they were spraying that next day so in a week. I go to drop my firearm off and see on the paperwork that must be signed there is a 4-6 week waiting period, I inquired in this point before signing and was assured that was for those wanting a color that may not be sprayed for a while my rifle would be ready the next week. I signed and left the rifle. A week goes by and I had not heard anything as I was told I would so I stop by Hunter's Choice to see if the rifle is ready or if there was a delay. I hardly got the words out and the guy who does the coatings blows his top, he immediately refers to his paper telling me he has 4-6 weeks on all his work. I told him before I signed I had spoke to him personally over the phone and was told a week, and in the shop the owner told me a week. He then continues to rant about how he doesn't come to my place of business and ask questions. I then informed him he would never have to because I kept my word. Where else should I come to ask if not the place of business if my questions are about the business? Then he tells me the spraying wasn't done until the day before and I would have to wait, not a big deal I was just checking since I was as told a week.
When I came back to check on the FFL transfer the day after that I thought ok everyone has a bad day, and if these guys lie and then hide behind the paper they lie to get you to sign they expect angry customers, so I tried talking to the coating guy again because I do have one other firearm that I want coated. It's is obvious he is still angry and is short and rude, but I kept asking questions because I feel everyone deserves a second chance. It is now that he informs me my price from now on is $55 more since I came in there "busting his chops." When I did get my rifle back I was missing a screw, and upon getting it home for inspection found runs and bubbling in the spray job. Really low quality work.
The firearm transfer came in the next day, I picked it up and have to say the fee was $25 whereas the majority of places I have dealt with was $35. So this maybe their place in the sporting world, a fair priced place to have a transfer done. The issue I had with the transfer is the firearm was damaged, the stock bent severely like someone had hit something with it. There was no damage to the packing material I received it in and the sellers pics showed no damage. Was this to get back at me for expecting them to stand behind their word rather than hide behind their paper?

The owner argued with me about what my pistol was, when it was a completely different generation of pistol he was quoting, his "buddy" standing behind him even said what I had said and he still insisted upon arguing as if he was the all knowing! He lowballs on offers, says he isn't out to screw anyone yet sells pistols for at least $100 more than others, one pistol he has is $575, I can run 15mi down the road and buy the same pistol for $429. Makes you wonder why he moved from Catoosa to Sapulpa and changed the name of his store! Most of his prices on his firearms and ammo are outrageous, who wants to pay full price for reloaded ammo? The overall assholish front when he insists your wrong has lost him a customer, and I hope plenty more! I'll go to Academy and buy stuff before I'd buy it from Hunter's Choice!
