Teeth Cleaning
The first step on the path of total dental health is clean teeth. One of the first appointments we will schedule after your initial exam is your cleaning. If you already have good oral hygiene habits, one of our hygienists will concentrate on finding areas that may be missed due to their location, or are areas where tartar builds up due to your natural oral chemistry. If your oral hygiene habits are so-so, this appointment will concentrate on checking how healthy your gums are, educating you on how to keep your teeth clean, and getting the plaque and tartar removed. If it has been a while since you've last had your teeth cleaned, you may need a second appointment to make sure all of the tartar has been removed, and to check that your gums are responding well to their new, cleaner state.

Dental Sealants
Eat right, brush regularly with an ADA-approved fluoridated toothpaste, floss daily, and visit your dentist at least twice a year for cleanings and checkups. Children often benefit by having Sealants placed.

Fillings
Crowns
Crowns cover all or part of a tooth and hold teeth together. They are the treatment of choice whenever decay, a crack, a fracture, or a previously placed large filling has compromised the strength of a tooth.
Bridges
These provide the same strength and support as a tooth colored crowns or bridges, but they are made of yellow gold. They are more conservative than tooth colored crowns and bridges because gold is strong when it is thin, while porcelain is fragile unless it is thicker, so less tooth structure has to be remove to make a gold crown or bridge. The only real downside of gold crowns and bridges is that they have the color of gold, so these are not usually used in aesthetic areas.

At that time we refer to a periodontist for your periodontal maintenance or surgery. The periodontist has the ability to save very unstable teeth through periodontal surgery and grafting.

If you've lost many teeth, a denture or partial denture may be your best option for tooth replacement. Dentures can make you look and feel much better about yourself, as well as greatly increase you ability to eat, which we all like!

Dental Implants
In some situations dental implants are the best treatment option. We most often use these where there are one or two missing teeth that are adjacent to undamaged teeth that we want to maintain, or where a denture does not have enough grip on the jaw. The implants are placed by specialists and the teeth are usually restored by us.

If your teeth aren't the color they once were, there is hope! Tooth whitening or bleaching has been around for quite some time now. There are even products available from drug stores now that do an adequate job of tooth whitening. Our office uses a bleaching system that includes custom fitting trays and weekly checks to ensure the whitening is going well and we are getting the best results possible. Some teeth can grey as they are whitened, so it can be very important to monitor when whitening should stop. Often times whitening is done in conjunction with other restorative procedures to produce the best possible results. Most often it is done by itself just to make what you already have look better.
